I think this is a repeat, so if there's a thread for this, let me know...

I need to know how to pull the depth gauge (thru-hull transponder & all) to test it from a SR 185Sport. Mine does not work (at all - no reading), but I'm suspicious that its a fault in the electrical system, not the gauge. Any advice/directions to a thread would be much appreciated.

When I was trying to figure mine out over the summer, I found a lot of comments on the web of issues with the Humminbird 600 units such as the one I have. I thought mine had issues until I dropped the boat into a clear lake where it worked beautifully. I guess the local clay pot has too much particulate matter.

Is yours a blank screen or just no reading?

I get nothing - never have from the day I bought the boat (used). This is why I'm not ready to give up on the transponder; it seems like the unit should show *something* in the display if the transponder is at fault.

Follow-up question; my transponder is thu-hull (2 1/8" hole). Is there a thru-hull transponder for the 650, and if so, is it worth it? The transponder in my boat was put in directly forward of the prop shaft (in line with the bilge float and pump), and I've read that this is a less-than-optimal location. So, if this ends up be a "replace it" situation, I'm thinking of epoxying the new transponder to the bottom inside the bilge and leaving the old thru-hull in. This, however, would sacrifice the one think I'd like to have; a water temp reading. Anyone have any suggestions, especially on location of the (non-transom) transponder?
