185/195 Sport Aft Bench Storage Bin / Coolers

MatthewMiller01...

Are you refering to the transom remote install I did last year? That's what it looks like....

If so, I got bad news.... I took pictures of the whole install... Cutting the hole in the transom, running the patch cable, the Y-Splitter, everything.....

And then accidentally "Deleted" all of the pics from my digital camera! I was a little ticked off because I took some pretty detailed pics, specifically to post them here!

All in all, the project was very easy... You've probably heard the hardest part is cutting the hole in the boat..... After that, it's "Cake".... Very easy and rewarding project! Glad I did it!

Just remember to measure 3-4-5-6 times... Cut once...

I'm jealous! I would love to have an integrated cooler on the boat. My 2005 has dual batteries back there and "had" a little extra space but a recall for "failed level flotation" filled all the extra space with foam. If I would have known that I would have opted not to have the recall done.

I have a friend with a house boat that we usually dock to. Which means I just hav eto load my coolers up enough to keep everyon refreshed for however lomg we are out for a given run around. So, these work great. I tend to fit about 10 cans/bottles + ice per side. SO usually even the 4 or 5 hour trips out are no issues with just 4 people on board.

oh my friend you need to tighten up on your packing skills ;) you can definatly get a 12 pack of bottles in each of these coolers with ice ;)

So - I sold my 1990 180BR and bought a 2002 182BR. The old boat really had a better layout, but I digress.

The old boat had a cooler built into/under the right rear bench. It held a case of beer. It was awesome.

I took a good sized soft-side cooler out on the maiden voyage and it annoyed me, always in the way.... takes up too much room.

So - does anyone know of any custom way to build your own cooler? Like out of UHMW or something else out there? I'm dying.

Hi everybody,

New owner of a 07' 185 sport, i'd like to have those aft bench coolers that seem very handy.
But, living in france, i couldn't find them on a french website. Could anyone, please, give me a website adress where i could order the coolers.
Thanks for your help.

I have a 2007 185 sport and want to add these coolers to my boat. Anyone have any good instructions or is it pretty self explanitory. Anything will help. Thanks

Pretty easy project... I did mine in a few hours... When you pull the seats up in your 185, there should be an "impression" where the coolers go.

I masked off the entire area with masking tape, came in about 1", maybe 1 1/4", can't remember.... Marked everything in pencil...

Called a buddy up, broke out my Rotozip and went to work.... Buddy worked the shop vac hose (from underneath... in the engine compartment) while I cut out the two panels... I then glued in the coolers with a silicon adhesive (just in case they need to be removed I can take them out), ran the drain hoses to the bilge and called it good!

I never understood the need for the drain hose, since its all going into the same place what does it matter if you have one or not?

I have a 2006 195 Sport I/O. So the coolers will definantly fit my boat?
Also about the deleted photos...There is a program called "Recover My Files" that will probably bring your photos back from your media card even after deletion. My daughter accidently deleted her wedding photos and we recovered them all plus alot of others that had been deleted prior to that....depends on how long ago they were deleted and whether or not they have been written over, etc....

Emailed MarineMax a couple of days ago and they replied that they do not have anything like this in stock. Will keep trying...

Please post if you have gotten these recently as most posts are going back 3-4 years.

Thanks

Does anyone know the dimentions of these cooler storage bins? I'm thinking of doing a custom install for a 2005 185.
Thanks.

I just ordered a set of these coolers from Marine Max. I gave up on trying to get their attention through email inquiries and called their parts dept. directly. The fellow who helped me talked to Sea Ray and then let me know that the part #'s had changed recently. I don't know what the new part #'s are, but I was able to get both coolers and shipping to me for $152.00. I was quite pleased with that price.

i checked into get these coolers for my boat. they were 282$ each. i was wondering how uall were to get them both for round 200$.. Could anybody direct me that direction.. thanks

My 2011 came with these and I like the idea, BUT, the factory foam insulation suuuuucked and has fallen off. You just used "great stuff" gap filler and foil to insulate with? How long does your ice last with that?

Old threat but.....

I called around Sea Ray dealer sells these for $305 per side. and Marine Max sells them for $282 per side. How did some of you guys get them for $200 for both sides? I really want to do t his mod, but dont want to speed $600 plus on a cooler mod.

Thanks

Apologies for bringing this back from the dead (hope it's not a violation of forum rules) - but there is a lot of good historical info here.

I called MarineMax, and low and behold these are NLA. Does anyone know if the 190 coolers will fit in a 185? Any other for other sources for these - my 2012 did not come with them.

Thanks!
