18.5 searay

There is no need to go over there and post a answer when all you need to do is ask the question here. :smt018

There are more questions than answers for you with what you have done. :smt017

You removed a 4.3 v6 and closed in the stern and now want to put a outboard in place of it? You don't think it would have been cheaper to rebuild the 4.3? :smt024

Just how did you enclose the transum? Will it support a outboard?
How much does a 190hp o/b weigh? :smt017

I think we would all be interested in seeing pictures of this project. Do you have any? :smt089

Sorry, I'm not going to post there, but if you check back here.....
2 things I will offer my advice to you. This forum is full of people with tons of great advice, experience and suggestions. For your next post give more information about your boat and what you plan to do. Specify everything you can: Engine, Year, and any other pertinent information. Depending on the year of your 18.5; with my 1991 180BR my 4.3L had 190HP. the newer 4.3L in the 185's I believe have 210HP.
I'm not sure why you want to replatfrom the transom to an Outboard format......but if you can make it strong enough to handle 175-200 that is what the boat is rated for and should perform well.
So out of your choices you listed the 140 seems to be the best option. I would look to repower with another 4.3L ...but it sounds like that water is under the bridge. Best of luck.

Not my post - I was just asking if someone could help out that user on boatblogs.net

Thanks anyway.
