Only in Milwaukee, budget shortfalls are running rampant. The current proposal is to take a profitable Municipal Mckinley Marina, Raise the fees by 16% and agian lower the level services. The justification seems to be that we pay less than our neighbors to the South, Chicago.
Our government now wants to propose a 1% increase in the sales tax to HELP ofset some of the shortfalls. Some of the short falls... and for how long will this help. No one thinks it will even be enough for 2010.
A freind suggested we privatise our cities board of supervisors to China. If the Chinese dont preform they would not have a place to sleep at night. Wereas if the city screws up its the tax payers who get it.
How about those rich boaters. Squeeze 16% out of any one in an economy were wages have not kept up with the cost of living. Sure even in Milwaukee there are those furtunate few who aford the floating glowing luxury condos of the water. The majority are folks who love the water and maybe opted for a boat rather than the "Up North" cabin.
Just an Idea, I think any one in public office should first succeed in working at a private business, be part of writing a budget and exicuting it. Then taking the yearly review of how your budget was recieved by the board. You learn accountability... I dont se a lot of this in county government. I should have said " Government" and not just the county, Sorry.
