16-22mph, 4.5' swell, 7 seconds?

I just looked at the NOAA forcast. It looks a little better, but will keep a watch. My friend I'm going with has a 2001 31DA. He's watching it a little more.

All current weather obs are for a stronger coastal storm than originally expected. Just an fyi. I would take extreme caution.

fellas i have a decent amount of ocean navigating experience from offshore fishing and alot of fall bass fishing on the outside. i also have a 05 340 dancer. experience is going to play a big factor in navigating. finding the right rpm to run at so you dont get beat up as bad, also changing depth of water for smoother ride, sometimes its better to run a couple miles out off the beach then to run down hugging the shoreline in 20 ft of water. i also boat on the south shore of long island and the area between montauk and block is notorious for beating the crap outta people. the biggest issues you may face are entering and exiting the inlets. waves can break in the inlet and are extremely unforgiving. if u are planning trips like this try to time your inlets when the tide is either slack, or moving in the direction of the wind. so a south wind in jones inlet the water will flatten out on the incoming, but youll get creamed on the outgoing.

3-4's with experience i would prob go out of fire island inlet and then down the beach, 3-5 i would pick another day. also when planning a trip like this that involves an ocean passing, u need to allow 3 days on both sides of your trip for the best travel day. so if u plan on leaving on a sunday but the weather isbetter sat or monday, thats when u go, and same on the other side of the trip. last thing, as soon as u pull into the marina, fuel up. that way if weather rolls in and u have to leave in a hurry you are ready to roll.

i was just looking at the weather your first window of travel is saturday. and its not even that favorable. u cant go before then

Canceled trip..:(. Going to Kalahari Waterpark with my son tomorrow. We'll be home Thursday, The wife and are leaving Friday morning for Clintons Calypso Party weekend. At least we are doing something..

Sucks to have to cancel a trip, but better safe than sorry. No fun getting beat up in the Ocean.

we stayed at watch hill a couple weekends ago it was great. nice backup plan bc u can get there in the bay. no ocean running. didnt get bit by a single mosquito

We’ve been in ocean beach these last few days, the wind has been relentless and the ocean is ANGRY!

Smart move to change your plans.

3.5 to 4 footers and winds under 15 mph are my limits. Been in 5-6 footers and it was just not fun. Really hard on the boat and just wasn't a pleasant trip for anyone. Went up the Chesapeake from Solomons MD to Annapolis this past Sunday the 8th, 12mph blowing out of the NE and 4 footers. First trip in this 340 in those conditions. Wasn't terrible, BUT - Admiral says "we won't do that again", although the daughter slept the whole trip. I like Scorpio's philosophy "When in doubt, don't go out." When weather isn't favorable, we stay close to home.
