Hi there, 12 volt side of my fridge has stopped working, although the 240 volt side is working.

Is it something simple or a new fridge?

any info appreciated.

CB's? "Refrig" switch on DC panel, if you have one. Batteries dying? If your batteries are putting out too low of voltage, the refrig doesn't get very cold if it works at all.

bad power supply or blown fuse
possibly can be repaired

Thanks for the info guys, I did have battery probs last time out.

The battery meters on the dash are showing 14 volts, the fridge doesn't work even with the engine running, fuses are trips, but are not tripping.

How about on shore power w/ AC 'fridge' switch off and battery chargers on? Generator?

Shore power on and a/c converter on A/C on fridge is working ok. I think that is with fridge switch on at the ac panel though, and not when ac panel fridge switch off.

Older Norcold fridges had a switching device that was a relay I believe. It would switch between AC and DC. It sometimes wears and will stick in one position or the other. I believe they are available from Norcold.

Ok, not sure what fridge but I'll check that out too thanks scorpio.

very likely there is fuse for 12v power right on top of refrigerator or in-line fuse on power leads.

just went through the same -it was the power supply $250 - I got a new one and its all good . Norcold has a trouble shooting guide a dealer sent me, email me and I;ll send it.

Great Don Sr thanks. I pm'd you.

Had the batteries checked, they are fine, there is no 12 volt power to the fridge, but I can't find any inline fuses apart from the trip on the dash.

Mine was the power supply that distinguishes between 12V and 120. Norcold doesn't make them anymore (of course) for my size/age fridge.

typical! I could probably do with a new fridge but if I don't have to I'll save £300+

The power supply we speak of, is it attached to the back of the fridge, or elswher in the boat. My fridge has the 240 volt lead direct into it, and the 12 volt supply is coming from the wiring loom on the boat. The feed doesn't seem to have 12 volts going to the fridge at all, so the interruption is before the fridge.

The power supply is attached to the rear of the fridge. Sounds like you have another problem...in line fuse or something that should be supplying the 12V. Norcold has a website where you can download parts manuals, but a simple test would be to run a wire from a battery to the 12V input at the fridge and see if it works.

Sorry, I mis-understood. No 12V at the rear of the fridge? Now I'm confused. Mine has 2 separate wires into the rear of the fridge. I'd get on norcold's website and see what's the deal.
Mike

Sounds like there is a wire disconnected at the battery or fuse panel. There should be 12volts present at the fridge if the breaker/fuse is ok. Try that troubleshooting guide also.

All comments very helpful guys, thanks. Going down on Sunday, so I'll see what I can find.
