Hi,

I'm from Maryland and this is my first post. We have a 2005 215 weekender and are planning to tow it up to the 1000 islands region in early August this year. Our stay would be approximately 10 days and we plan on alternating between staying on the boat and different hotels while exploring.

One snag we've ran into is where to keep the trailer for 10 days while exploring.

If anyone has done something similar in the 1000 island region and could share their experiences it would be most appreciated.

Thanks.

Dan

French Bay Marina in Clayton, NY.
Plenty of marinas in Alexander Bay, NY.
You need to look in the Great Lakes Section - Plenty of resources there.
We sometimes go to the 1000 Islands, but, do it via Canada.

BTW - Welcome to the board.

We used to leave our truck and trailer at Keewaydin State Park back when we hauled a 290. We used to leave it there for two week stretches at a time
That was 12 years ago, so if you think that may be an option, call ahead.
Take care

I believe the village of Alexandria Bay has a parking lot for boat trailers, 5-6 blocks inland from the Holland St. dock. It's free, though I don't know what the time limit is. Of course, having a couple ways to lock up your trailer is a good idea. I've done this with a jetski trailer frequently without incident over the years.

Be sure you have a good set of charts or a GPS-- they call it the "thousand islands" but there are at least a thousand shoals, too! Also, the water is lower than usual this year, so you have to be extra careful...

Fire away with any questions you have, I've been boating there for roughly 20 years. There are some other experienced CSR members from that area too who will surely chime in. It's a great place to boat!
