Doing a little trip planning and one idea was to go into the Lake of the Isles for a day or two. I've been there many times for day trips on a smaller boat with an I/O. We thought the kids would love the swimming and exploring the rift on the dinghies. Can you anchor overnight in a quiet part of the lake or what about Dewolf state park marina? Looks small and no power, which isn't a deal breaker. I don't want to get in there and scramble at the end of the day for a spot to stay overnight.

You have any issues getting your boat in the Lake of Isles with normal water levels? I remember seeing larger boats in there, just haven't been in there in a number of years. I remember the channel plenty deep it was the approach to the channel that gets shallow in spots.

Just make sure which side of the border you anchor on [and the border isn't exactly a straight line in the islands]...its becoming a bit of a bun fight with Canada/US customs. Wasn't a problem a few years ago, but now as soon as you drop a hook ..you have technically landed in that country and you have to have cleared with the respective customs people. You could also look at Mary Island or Waterson State Park docks. Dewolfe might be busy with campers since it has road access.

It's busy in there usually with skiers and wake boarders and therefore the water is kinda murky. It is fun to explore the rifts though. The last time I dropped anchor in lake of the isles (several years ago) it didn't take long for others to follow suit and quickly form a boat party so we left.

For an overnight anchorage rusho bay was one we stayed at a time or two and was nice and quite. From what I remember there were a few nice places on the east end of grindstone to drop the hook and not be bothered.

Bucket List boat is currently in Fort Lauderdale so a Miami to Bimmi before I bring it back to Catawaba ! Then a trip to Cleveland to rock n dock !
