100 Hour Service

My 2004 280 (twin 4.3 MPI/alpha/gen) is just about ready for her 100 hour service. A local company will likely be doing the work as they’re located at my marina, I trust them and and I’ve been pleased with their past work. While I’m sure the 100 hour service is outlined somewhere (online or in my owners information), I can’t find it anywhere. Can anyone point me in the direction of a document that outlines the recommended 100 hour service on a set-up like mine so I know what to expect? Thanks in advance.

This would located in your Merc Engine owners manual. The service manual purchased separately from Merc has much more detail... the high level steps are in the owners manual which "should" have come with your boat.

The list should include the following items

- Drain and refill engine oil, change filter x2
- Drain and refill outdrive oil x 2 (clean reservoir bottle if required)
- Drain and refill gen set oil, change filter
- Remove and inspect spark plugs. Re-gap and reinstall or replace.
- Inspect cap and rotor (replacement depends on condition and hours)
- Inspect spark plug wires, replace if necessary.
- Remove lower unit grease u-joint (if possible), grease drive shaft splines, check engine alignment. Align engine if required.
- Replace raw water impeller and necessary compoents Alpha x2 Gen x1
- Inspect heat exchanger anode on gen set, replace as necessary
- Replace water separating fuel filters x 3
- Replace in line boost pump filters (if equipped)
- Clean spark arrestor x 2
- Grease gimbal x2
- Grease steering linkage x2
- Lube shift/throttle points
- Inspect and clean battery terminals

that gives you a general idea..... this may be missing a thing or 2 as this is strictly from memory.... this should give you a good idea.
