Hey Folks,

We spent 10 days in our new to us 330 DA returning yesterday. We left Midland ON, spent 2 nights in Indian Harbour, then off to Britt ON via the small craft route. Refueled and provisioned and headed out across the bay to the Bad River anchorage at the north end of the bay. We were there Tues through Saturday and had a blast. The bottom in the bad is all smooth rock. We had a good hold for a while until the wind picked up on Thursday. We ended up dragging both anchors and had to relocate to the wall where we found a pin. I little boater engineering and lots of fenders and we were settled. We dingied up the rapids several times, that was cool! (Have the prop scars to show it). The winds picked up while we where there which delayed our departure. We left sat morning at 7:00am hoping sea conditions would be better as the night was calm, but they were calling for 15-20 kt winds out of the NW. We crossed from the Bad to Point au Baril in 2M (6 ft) rear quartering seas. I'll say, the 330 held up like a champ! We were able to maintain cruise at 21 knots, topping off at 25 on the downhill of the rollers.

We spent Sat and Sun night in echo Bay in the Massassauga Park. Dinghy ride around the park revealed another CSR member Jackie JV, but we didn't stop to say hi. He did pass us coming out of the Sans Souci area though on our way home. (Man that boat throws a lot of water!).

Here are some highlights in pics: (In no particular order)

Bad River moonrise

Tied to the wall.

Saw a bear. (its behind the tree, lol)

I took the Drone up at the anchorage:

Very cool pics, but I have to ask--how do you tie to the rocks? Why not anchor and stern tie like you guys did in some of the shots?

And you tied to the rocks when there was a bear in the area? Did he invite himself on board for dinner?

Thanks for sharing them with us. It looks like fun. I was up there in the 60's with a friend and his parents on their boat. A good time was had by all.

Not just tying to the rocks but navigating into there. Those drone shots show a lot of rock under the water.

And just because I notice these things, how come at Indian Harbour the smaller boat (the one with the ASSet) takes up more of the dock than you in the larger boat?

This anchorage has pins rammed into the rocks. (In our case a large steel ring). We tied to that and tied to some large rocks. There were not any good spots to stern tie to after we dragged anchors, and the wind was blowing so strong down the chute that trying to re set the anchors was futile. Where we ended up on the rock was perfect, and well protected.
The bear(s) didn't come to dinner. Where we were tied it was about 20 feet straight up the rock.

There was a 40' sailboat tied there with the Baja rafted to it. When the Baja left, the Carver took its spot.

Oh, and yes, lots of rocks! Navigating in is not bad, the channel is marked. In a strong wind its a little tricky, but doable.

Glad you got back safe. The wind was howling this weekend. Kept me on the dock.

It was sketchy at times, especially navigating through Starvation Bay/O'Donnel Point where its really skinny. Big boats were bouncing off the markers.

Beautiful pictures, thanks for posting.

Looking at the tree's, it looks like those areas see some serious constant wind.

That is the classic Georgian Bay pine tree. Summers are normally beautiful, but the winter ice and games off the bay sculpt the trees like you see. It's beautiful country up on the Bay. And I am sure Molson will be posting a lot of really cool drone pictures over the next while as he plays with the new 330.

Great Pic's! I love the country up there. Would love to get up there sometime myself.

Here is a video we took going back down the French River rapids:

Live the pics Molson! I didn't know you'd picked up a 330...Congrats.

Lots of memories in Georgian Bay for me.

Thanks! We got it back about a month ago. Love it! Nice to be back in a Sea Ray!

Love the lines of the Baja, especially in the back!

The opening shot of that video scared the crap out of me until I realized you were in a RIB. Not sure I'd have taken the Whaler through there, especially that one point where you went over that drop.

Nice video, and thanks for sharing it.

Wish I would have known you were there. Just got home yesterday. That video is awesome.

Spent several day in tobermory and kilarney and covered portage cove. That storm on the weekend was crazy. Glad we were in harbor.
