Has anyone experienced metal shaving back by the transmission
And Vdrive coupler area ? And if so what were the results and solutions ?

This is not a few shaving but a lot , and seems like the were thrown
around by th prop shaft spinning
My take is something is miss aligned and maybe blow the output shaft bearings and
Seal

Of course I’ll have marine max look at it , but just looking to see if any one has experienced the problem and cost of the solution ?/
Thanks

Shavings? Can you post a picture exactly where? I just removed and installed mine, so I know what it looks like and how it's supposed to operate.

I didn’t take pics , I wasn’t thinking at the time but it was right back in the area between the bulkhead and the trans in the bilge space we’re the drive coupling is !! I will try and get to the boat after this storm , it’s in heated storage

I’ll try another description ! Behind the trans were the prop shaft and the trans shaft come together! (Behind the trans)

Well the coupler works like this. The trans has a drive flange that comes out of the trans pointing the bulkhead. The prop shaft goes through that flange. There is another coupler that is attached to the shaft with a keyway. They bolt get connected with 4 grade 8 nut and bolts. Hmmm.. Does the shaft turn when in gear? Are there any leaks in that area? The shaft would have to be off alignment pretty bad for it to touch in where it goes through the trans. I could see that making shavings though, but you would have a bad vibration also.

I’m looking at buying the boat .The PO has no clue , but my guess is that it’s that out of alignment that it’s rubbing the trans housing , marine max is going to check it out for me next week I’ll let yous know what we found thanks for the reply’s
