'04 Sundancer 280 - Sump

I was giving the AC/Shower sump a cleaning and decided to clean some of the grime in the compartment where the sump box sits - i expected the water to flow back to the bilge area but was surprised that it simply built up. Is this normal or is there some blockage?

The cabin bilge is purposefully separated from the engine bilge to keep nasty bilge water and fumes out of the living space. In other word... "normal"

If you don't shop vac it (or bail it out... use a sponge or towel, as well), how will you get it out?
