An '03 we're looking at has a single stove burner that gets covered by a flip down glass cover. My question is, do you cook directly on the glass, or do you flip it up and cook on the burner??

Also, is there a more "appealing" stove assembly that can be put in it's place? This one is kinda ugly.

You need to lift up the glass, I think their is a switch that prevents the electic burner from being turned on with the cover down.

Are you sure it's an electric stove? My 03 has the regular corian counter top as a cover. It has a hole in it to pluck it out of the recess it lays in because it is flush with the rest of the counter. No glass cover at all.

Yup, if you're seeing a glass top and if it's electric/alcohol there is a switch. If it's a butane, no switch. Either way, as mentioned above, lift the glass to cook.

Other models available? Not through Sea Ray. Check google for things that would fit in that approximate size hole. If room allows, you could always cut the hole in the counter top larger.

Yes, it looks like the coil from an electric range. The sink area has a cover with the hole in it like you mention.

That's a combo stove. Alcohol and electric. You can try looking at some pics of this years 280's and see if they have a nicer looking one. Maybe it'll drop right in and bolt up.
