winterizing ac

The boat is all winterized...engines, generator, water system but I am having no luck with the air conditioning unit. Here is what I tried - I opened the sea strainer put a hose into it. Turned on the AC in the cabin. I was getting cold air but no water was being pulled out of the strainer...
