windshield cover

Just upgraded from a 2002 380DA to a 2005 420DB and one of the previous owners "painted" the forward windshied cover (the net like cover over the main front windows and changed from black to white/black and very poor job). Has anyone dealt with the windshield covers and would a vinyl paint work...
