Ok need some help here. 2006 290 slx with twin 350 mags. Little back story port engine starter goes out. So I became a contortionist and managed to replace it. Once back in the water everything was good until 5 minutes later the raw water line blew off (hose clamp by the starter failed)...

Starts fine. Usually gets up to 3,800 rpm range for a few minutes, then the problem starts.
The cycle is quick. First the hesitation, then the warning horn, then starts again...that is like 1 second, then 5 seconds later, the cycle repeats.
If I pull the RPMs back to 2000ish, the problem goes...
Occasional problems are the hard one's to figure out but perhaps someone has a good answer. My port engine will sometimes stall when the boat is first put into gear. But this happens only at the slip. The engine will lug down and there will brief valve clatter typically heard before it stalls...
