When do you use your bilge blower?

Not to get into a peeing contest, but I'll say we are both right on this one. Copied from the manual: page 44 of the 2006 185 sport manual downloaded from searay. Run bilge blowers for at least 4 minutes before attempting to start engine Unlike your automobile engine which is naturally...

    What octane do you use?

When you say pre-ignition are you talking about it not shutting down right away? I've heard it refered to as dieseling, not that it's the proper term....anyway mine does that if I come off plane and shut down, when picking up a skiier/wakeboarder etc..., but if I come off plane and idle to a...

When do you use your bilge blower?

I run it before any start, when not on plane, and when I forget to turn it off when on plane. I was under the impression from the owners manual that when running on plane there is enough ventilation from the wind speed to vent the engine compartment with fresh air, is this not the case?

    How much can I tow?

I agree with you on the seet feel, don't want the trailer driving you!

    Sales Tax

I find it very interesting to see the differences from state to state. I know they will get the money from us one way or another, either all at once or over time. Dave, I see you're point, at the time I purchase my boat the sales tax was 5% so I probably would have paid roughly $1200...

    Sales Tax

Do any other states limit the sales tax on boats, cars, etc? SC sales tax caps at $300.00. We do have property taxes due every year on them though. The thought of paying 7.5% on a large purchase just makes me cringe.

    What octane do you use?

I run 87, the last tank of the year I'll fill with 93 and fuel stabil, run it that day, then top off with 93 and fuel stabil.

    How much can I tow?

How far are you going to be towing it? If you aren't towing very far and not on a highway I could see getting by, but I wouldn't tow it on the highway or long trips, not even just one time. Also, the shorter wheelbase of mid size suv's doesn't help. I had a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the 4.7...

    Opinions on extended warranty

Personally I am not for or against an extended warranty. I chose not to purchase one on my boat (was offered to me for just under 1K for 6yrs) for many reasons, the main one being that I feel most of the time if something is defective it will show up early, although not always the case. I do...

Noob here with question on 185 Sport

I don't know what you paid, but I have an 06 pretty close to the same options you have minus storage tubs, I think I could sell it for 21K give or take a little, just going off what I've seen some sell for around here without the tower. As with anything if you sell it yourself you will do a lot...

Launching solo; how do you do it?

I power load/unload into the ICW. Back the trailer in, start the boat, back off the trailer, tie off to dock, move truck, etc. I can see where it could be a little tricky if you didn't power load with the currents, don't really have any experience loading/unloading with out the engine. I know I...

    2007 185 sport OTD price

Paid $23500 plus 340 tax and registration out the door for boat/trailer. Boat has the 4.3, came with snap carpet, covers, wake board tower and a few other options. Purchased in Conway, SC from Eastern Sales Co....just a few miles from Myrtle Beach. Great family owned dealership, very good prices.

I NEED YOUR OPINION.. trading boats..

U got some big anchors...lol. Well, check into those storage tubs, maybe that would be an inexpensive fix for some of the storage issues.

I NEED YOUR OPINION.. trading boats..

I have the same boat as you and know the storage isn't the greatest on it, but I can say we've been able to work it out pretty well. First, store your anchors in the bow under one of hte seats, There is carpet under there, so you won't scratch anything and when you need access to the anchors...

Want to install additional speakers in 2005 185 Sport

Glad to see you got it done and everything went well. Fyi, I've seen the larger size hole saws at lowes, and work fine with a 18 volt drill. As long as you have a sharp (new) hole saw they go through fiber glass like a knife through butter.

Wakeboard tower for 07 185 sport

The bimini is attached as well! Just got a new boat and already want a bigger one...hmmm that sounds familiar!

How many of you mix boating and camping?

Great timing on this topic. We have been looking into getting a travel trailer since my parents just bought a lot on Lake Murray in SC. We are thinking of getting an older used one and sticking it out there with theirs so we have room for us and the kids to stay on the weekends. If anyone has...

    Wakeboard Help Needed!

This helped me, I don't know if it's the proper way, but it works for me: Getting up is kinda like someone standing in front of you pulling you up from sitting on the floor. You work with them by leaning toward them and bending your knees, once your body is above your feet you stand up. I try to...
