I am thinking about trying to make my cockpit self bailing. Has anyone ever installed scuppers with check balls in them? I found one online that says its good for discharge below the waterline. Just wondering how well they work.
So we were in Holland Michigan last weekend. Had a great time and the weather was nice (cool but nice). Anyhow, Sunday came and we went to our favorite beach that is between Holland and Saugatuck. We arrived around noon and spend the entire afternoon there. Around 4:30 pm, we decided to climb...
I have the origional seats from my 2007 220 Sundeck (high back). Just wondering if there is anyone local who may be interested. They are in very good shape with no cuts or scratches. I am in the Detroit Metro area.
When I purchased my boat, I noticed the clear coat on the steering wheel had a crack in it. I didn't even think to bother Sea Ray about it. Well, after a few years, the clear coat has a big chip out of it (maybe an inch long) and I can see that the steering wheel is actually cracked. To me, this...
I am planning on replacing the spark plugs in my motor and was wondering if anyone has upgraded ot Iridium plugs in a 350 MAG? If so, what type did you choose? I believe that the factory plugs are platinum.
Last summer, I blew a couple of fuses. One was the re-setable circuit breaker on top of my 350 MAG. I was sitting at the sand bar for a few hours and my motor wouldn't start. Not sure what happened, but the breaker tripped. I reset it and so far no issues.
The second happened while underway...
I finally ordered my new speakers to compliment my Clarion XN 3410 amp. I choose the Polk db 5251's for the cockpit and decided to upgrade to bow speakrs to 6 1/2" Polk db 651. Anything has to be better than the factory speakers. Since the new Polk grills are silver, I may decide to paint them...
Has anyone upgraded their lights to LED's? The connections in my Shorelander are starting to get rusty, so I am thinking about swapping out my lights for enclosed/sealed LED's.
Well, the time has come for us to plan our summer trips before the hotels are booked. I have a few trips in mind, but one that I am considering is going over to Beaver Island near the top of Lake Michigan. This trip is about 35 miles out. Has anyone ever made this trip? How are the waters in...
So last summer I decided to add a second bilge pump to my boat (Rule 1100 auto water detect model). My initial test was to launch the boat without the drain plug in the hull. Both the factory pump and the second pump were enough to keep the water out of the bilge.
After some thought, I am...
Fellow CSR members, I am planning a trip to Chicago this summer and wanted to see if anyone has tips/info. for the Playpen. I have a 220 SD and will be trailering my boat there. What is the closest boat launch? Are there any waterfront places to eat with pull-up slips? In general, how is the...
So my summer started a bit shakey from the get-go, but two weekends ago something really bad happened.
I was on Lake St. Clair heading from Ford Cove to the Grosse Pointe Yacht club running in about 4' of water around 15-18 MPH (just on plane) following another boat. I was watching the bottom...
This summer I have noticed a new phenomenon with my outdrive trim system. It seems to cycle much slower (and quieter). When I trim the outdrive, it also makes a poping sound through the radio, and sometimes makes the radio shut-off for a few seconds. To me, it seems like the trim motor is...
Anyone out there have experience cleaning/fixing their float switch? I can't even get my head/hands close enough to try and 'feel' how to disassemble it. I did notice that the lounger support fiber glass comes off with a few bolts and some cutting of the caulk. Maybe I need to remove that panel...
This spring I had some leaves and other debris in my bildge area that prevented the pump from pumping. I sucked it up with a shop vac and the pump started working again. Now it seems that the float switch does not work. I can run the pump manually however. Is the switch bad or just screwed-up...
The new sundecks seem to have anchor hatches that open to the side as opposed to opening to the stern which makes it very difficult to remove the anchor. Has anyone moved their hinge on the older style sundecks to open side ways? After being on the hook this weekend, I remembered how annoying...
