Another option, if you have the stomach and the balls for it, is buy a repo. A few years ago I bought an 07 Doral (with 200 hours on it) for $60K from a bank. I had to sink $20K into it to bring it back to perfect. I hired a surveyor for the boat and a surveyor for the engines so I knew what...
Thanks again for everyone's advice. We all made it back in one piece. We pretty much stuck with the plan above with the only change being we stayed in Greenport, NY one night. Half way between Block and Montauk I had an engine quit. There's nothing like the feeling of your boat coming off...
Thanks for the suggestions! Right now we plan on staying in Port Washington, NY (have cousins there), Branford, CT (good halfway point to Mystic), Seaport Marina in Mystic for two days, then Block Island for two days, then Port Jefferson on the way back. We would like to stay someplace near...
For what its worth... I used MT to repair a chip I had on my swim platform. Although it was easy to make the repair, the color didn't match and over time (3+ years) the sun killed the MT. It started to crack a little but worse was the color changed. It's now an obvious repair. Although, any...
Looking for some advice. This summer 3 families (in separate boats) will be taking a trip from Albany to Block Island for two weeks. Last year the same 3 families went from Lake George, NY via Champlain to Kinston, Ontario (incredible trip!) so we are familiar with the whole transient boater...
Thre are a ton of them out there. I just put one of these in. Mainly because I already had the same one in my boat. Seem like a nice, well built unit...
No not yet. I had a couple other issues with my account about a month ago (which he resolved) so I haven't had the heart to bother him with another issue. I'll touch base with him about now that I know other people have had issues. Thanks.
Same for me too. Also, I have my 300 DA for sale in the classified section and I don't get any notifications either. I had my friend test it and I didn't get anything. Makes me wonder how many people inquired about my boat that I don't know about...
I think they go for about $1000+ new. Does $500 sound reasonable? If for some reason it doesn't work I'll refund your money, no questions asked. You would just have to ship it back. Actually, the company I work for does a lot of work at Howard University. You could drop it off at our office...
I'm selling a used beige camper canvas set from my 2002 300 sundancer. The tops pieces are pretty much junk (dry and cracking) but the side and back curtains are decent. Could be used as a template or just use the side pieces. These are the original canvas that came with the boat. The glass was...
Yeah the water literally hugs the window frame and slips behind the fiberglass. I tested what I thought was happening (with a garden hose) and I had everything apart in the aft, and the water did exactly as I described. I suspect every 300 does it. I'm not sure if the starboard side windows...
Here's a picture of the bead of silicone I put below the window. You wouldn't think a tiny leak in the window would amount to much but it eventually does. The silicone allows the water to flow into the bathroom (where it eventually makes its way to the sump) without going behind the fiberglass...
Sorry, post # 945, or page 95. Anyway, below is a cut and paste. I can take a picture of the silicone fix I did if anyone is interested, once I get back into town. By the way - my 02 300 is up for sale if anyone is interested. Will get it posted up shortly.
I saw some folks with mystery...
