I have the factory 3 bladed props on the boat with no complaints. My local prop shop feels this set up works best for my boating style. My WOT is about 4500RPM at 40 MPH. Way to fast for that boat with tiny rudders, 3200 to 3400 RPM it just purrs along.

The only problem I have now Frank is that I have no idea what a fusible link is. I do see that there are fuses on the solenoids in the control panel is this the area to check or on the motor itself? Thanks for the help. Tcat

Thank you all for your input. I was lucky enough to get lots of practice this weekend replacing impellers and removing exhaust systems. The brand new mercruiser impeller was junk. The hub spins but as soon as any pressure is applied to the rubber blades they stop moving and the hub spins freely...

Thank you Jimmy for the info. The only thing left is a bad new impeller. That would explain why it will not take water even from a hose and after being primed. Maybe the new part is spinning in the pump but the blades have somehow not been bonded to the plastic hub properly. Will put the old one...

Final update. Mercruiser called the mechanic and informed him the PCM's in my boat were a recalled item. I guess they are throwing false fault codes. I have 2 on the way. Thanks all for the help. Tcat

Thank You for your input. I would think if the engine water pump was commonly referred to as the "secondary pump" the people at Mercruiser would be aware that they programmed the on-board computer to recognize the error code. Tcat

New info on alarm . Had the local Mercruiser repair man down today and pulled the code from the motor. The fault triggering the alarm was " secondary pump" problem. He has no idea what that is and neither does the people at mercruiser so far. Has this happened to anyone else? I googled searched...
