    Disrespectful dock mate.

I really don't see the problem, did he not say please? Seriously though, He needs to be told that it is not acceptable. My first thought would be to say something to him in a joking manner. See how he responds. Make sure he knows that it is not to happen again. He needs to apologize...

    Winterize Hot Water Heater

I just drain the tank then manually bypass the water heater before running the pink stuff through. I had considered a bypass kit like the one that skolbe used but was concerned that water would remain in the lines between the bypass kit and the water heater. I may just be paranoid though...

What to keep the mice out

Just throwing mothballs around beneath the boat will help keep them away before they decide to move in. Personally, I've never used anything specifically to keep rodents away and have never had any indication of unwanted guests during the winter. I use damp aways throughout the boat during...

    Soft floor questions

I replaced a floor in a 1969 Glastron about 15 years ago. I would never do it again. In my opinion, the poor condition of the floor usually indicates an overall lack of maintenance. You will no doubt find many other problems related to poor maintenance. The time and money involved would be...

When do you put your boat up for the season?

I would think it would suck to live down south this time of year. There are too many winter activities that we enjoy to want to skip the season all together.

When do you put your boat up for the season?

That dream actually became reality for us a couple years back. Mid October snow storm took down trees, power lines and knocked the power out for a couple days for most of the area. We were without power for nine days and lived off of a portable generator feeding the house. My boat was still...

How many hours is too much?

The hour meter itself is pretty useless information for a variable rpm engine. It is much more useful for engines that always run at a consistent rpm (like many generators). For variable rpm engines a meter that tallies total engine revolutions and an hour meter would provide a much better...

    Gear lube in bilge

Just a follow up. The reservoir kit arrived, it was exactly what I needed and was extremely easy to install. The only complaint that I have is that the bottle is still a two piece design that is welded together vertically, through the bottom. This time the weld does not pass through the...

    Trailer fell off ball!

chuck1 - It was buried in the text of his second post in this thread. gridlok - You'll find that the responses to your questions are much more useful if you put your boat and trailer information in your signature. And, you won't have to read posts telling you to do it every time you ask a...

    shrink wrap?

Great Idea!! I've never been a fan of shrink wrap. In my area the cost of shrink wrap added to the cost of outdoor storage costs about the same as indoor storage. With a cover like that, the outdoor storage would pay for the cover in just a few years.

Environmentally responsible way to remove oil from bilge.

Pads that absorb oil and NOT water. Didn't know that existed but sounds like exactly what I'm looking for. Of course the manual labor will follow but at least most of the oil will be gone by then. Thanks.

    another horn quesyiom\n

The hot (power) wire should generally be the switched wire. Switching both wires by using a double pole switch would be acceptable as well. Switching the ground wire only is bad practice and should be avoided. Except in applications where the switch is controlling multiple devices, each...

Environmentally responsible way to remove oil from bilge.

The oil reservoir for my Bravo outdrive has a small crack in the bottom of the bottle that is leaking into the bilge. I have a replacement part on order and will take care of the source of the problem when the part arrives. In the interim, I have a couple rags collecting any new drips. While...

    Gear lube in bilge

I've compared these two diagrams and think that the kit mentioned in my last post will be all that is required to convert the round reservoir to the square.

    Gear lube in bilge

My round style reservoir has the same failure, a small crack from the hole in the center out toward the side. It leaks extremely slowly, and almost undetectably while not being used but leaks much more rapidly while running. I've decided to stick with genuine parts as I'm not sure that a...

How does this mount work out while underway? I have always been concerned that the TV would be moving around or that the mount would fail under the stress.

Yet another fool on the water

You mean that's not how you get the boat out of the water for winter layup? Good thing you told me now.

    Moving up, down or out?

We just upgraded size, will probably be ready in a few years when the kids are bigger. I'm curious why you want to move away from a bridge.
