An experienced buddy of mine told me about diluting white vinegar in water and put it in a spray bottle. Spray it on use a stiff bristled brush to scrub it a bit. Spray it off with a hose. It cleans it off making it look new again. And even here in the pacific NW I only have to do this once a...
Cliff what are your thoughts on the RV fresh water system antifreeze? I have used it for two seasons now with no problems. I empty the water tank, put in the antifreeze run it through the back sprayer and front then rise twice for spring commissioning.
Plus other than running antifreeze with...
Ok so today was shakedown II. It went perfectly. The risers and manifolds stayed at a nice warm temp. Eng temp was a perfect 180 degrees. Good day on the water. Just wish the wind would have been a lot less.
Ok basic trouble shooting; is the SWITCH in the proper position? YES. Is the circut breaker/fuse set/good? YES (really? We'll get back to that). Is the bus powered? YES (no not really). Is the componet/s good?YES.
So getting back to that fuse, the fuse for the bilge pump is in the engine...

Yes you're right, I just wish I would have had the thought to take pictures of each major step. This site is invaluable for guys with really nice boats (SeaRays) but on a budget to where they have to do allot of the maintenance themselves.

Ok so here is the break down. So after I had everything off I inspected the Y tube and exhaust bellows with a bore scope (thanks neighbor) for any damage or parts of my melted water shutter assembly. I got it all out when I changed the impeller and zincs. I bought all the parts from Go2marine...
The manifolds and risers are sierra and the other parts are mercruiser. I got them from go2 marine. They were great making sure the parts were correct and ordering was a piece off cake. They were semi local (Seattle) so they got here with in a week even though it was the 4th of july week.

It was real easy. I used a jam nut. Put one nut on top of the other and jam them together, after it broke free with an open end wrench on the bottom nut I used a socket wrench on the top and it spun right out. No damage to the threads.
Ok so everything apart and the manifold and riser is bad. Found a couple of sites to keep the cost down to just over $400. Getting manifold, riser, soft tubes, and water shuter assembly.

Ok so replaced the water pump impeller and unfortunately it looked great. So what I'm thinking now is to disconnect the fittings one at a time and see if water is making it to the manifold.
On a side note two pieces of metal fell out when I removed the lower unit. Please look at the post in...
Not sure about age. I bought the boat 4 years ago with a full inspection. Maintenance log shows impeller changes the year I bought it. I keep the boat out of the water and rinse the motor for 5 min minimum and use anti-freeze with rust inhibitor every winter.
I will start at the hoses and check...

Yes that is what I'm thinking. Engine temps.were normal. And the port side was fine. Is there a way only a portion like the exhaust manifold could not get water because of X reason?
Ok so during todays shake down cruise we had a pretty big problem. The starboard exhaust manifold got so hot it started to melt the rubber connections.
This seems to be bigger problem than I think I can handle.
Please someone tell me this is not that hard of a fix, just allot of work...
The battery switch. I don't know how this is wired. The wires go into a wire bundle that I can't really reach. I'm assuming from that bundle it goes to the main battery switch. Should one of the wires going to the control switch at the helm be reading 12 volts? Or is there a relay somewhere?
