    Exhaust Manifolds

Update: I removed the gasket material from the mating surface. That was a pain. I carefully used a razor scraper to get most of it. I read to use a flat file to clean to get it all the way down to metal. Then I used a sanding block with 320 grit to smooth it out. I'm ready to put them back...

    Exhaust Manifolds

Thanks for easing my mind lol. I'll be putting them back together tomorrow. Was wondering how to clean up the mating surface. I was gonna use a plastic scraper. What grit did you sand them with?

    Exhaust Manifolds

Hey guys, finally got a chance to visit the boat. These don't look near as bad as the pictures I've seen. I think they have some life left. What do you think? I went ahead and ordered new gaskets.

    Exhaust Manifolds

They are for sale online so I'm not able to do that. I could try asking if they'd do that for me. But after looking closer, the bolts on the risers are different and the angles of the elbow are different. So probably won't work for me. Unless the design has changed?

    Exhaust Manifolds

Hey guys. So I found someone selling exhaust manifolds for a big block from 1993. 212 hours OEM. Fresh water. Was hoping you guys could help determine if they'll work for me. Just trying to save some money. Thanks

    Exhaust Manifolds

I agree they look different. My engine serial number is 6083210. The manifold in that kit matches mine but the risers do not. Looks like I need part number 98504A 3. I'm struggling to find OEM. I found this...

    Exhaust Manifolds

Ok I just got this boat in the summer of 2021 and I wanna keep it as long as I can. So I wanna fix it right and will go with OEM. These look right...

    Exhaust Manifolds

Thank you guys for the quick responses. Gonna go ahead and change them before the season. I found this on Ebay https://www.ebay.com/itm/295270293530?chn=ps&mkevt=1&mkcid=28 Does anyone recommend another source or does that look good? Thanks again

    Exhaust Manifolds

I'm a newer boater and do my own maintenance. Recently been reading about exhaust manifolds. I went to check on my boat today and decided to have a look at mine and take some pictures. Do you guys think these need immediate attention? I plan to remove the risers to take a look and replace the...

    1983 Amberjack

I got some free time and started cleaning up the teak inserts from the swim platform. Previous owner had used several coats of stain. I stripped all that off and cleaned and oiled one piece. A lot of work but happy with the results.

That's really cool. Now you have me thinking about building some kind of cabinet like that lol. Carpentry is one of my winter hobbies. Even just for the storage and counter space. I've also not been able to get the sinks working. I think I need a new pump. Another project for this season. Seats...

I really like that cabin set up. The counter space and the middle table especially. The only flat work surface I have is the cover that goes over the little sink. Fridge is cool too but my marina doesn't have electric so it wouldn't get used much. Hopefully I'm able to fix the throttle. I agree...

    2023 slip rates

My marina is $30/ft. But it's also a trailer park that we rent a spot for $2950/yr. Our docks also don't have electric. Just a few water spigots for washing bird poop off. Apparently going to be installing electric soon. I'm sure rates will go up.

Interesting, I did not know the 255 could have a fridge and dining table in the cabin. I've attached the best picture that I have of my cabin. I only have a small sink to the left and no table. There's also a sort of "closet" rod for hanging clothes. My boat also struggles to get on plane if I...

    1983 Amberjack

Thank you Steve. I've seen a lot of your posts in my searching around this site. I couldn't agree more on the beam size. It's set the standard for any future boats for sure. This is the perfect boat for me because it seems like longer boats just have more cabin space and I have no use for a...

    1983 Amberjack

Thank you. I agree the size is perfect. It has a 10ft beam also. My wife and I just had our first child and this size boat is great for a family. I have a dock at a marina and only use the trailer for winter storage. The marina uses a hoist and only moves the trailer about 100 yards twice a...
