I was told when I got my boat to use the HW as often as possible whether you turn the heater on or not. I've never had a problem, but of course I visit my boat almost daily during the season. Be sure to add plenty of water purification stuff each time you fill your water tank.
Had a chance to go aboard the 350 last week. Personal opinion is I like it. The cockpit is better, the helm and shotgun passenger seat revolve to face stern. the hardtop is a great feature. Down below is pretty much the same as the 340 but there are a few improvements. The boat shows far...
Great Boat. Had a 2001 290 with 5.0L BIIs. Bought it new. No generator. Performs well at about 3200-3500RPM. Cabin was tight (for me) but cockpit was very comfortable. Out drives held up well but I had aluminum props on the BIIs. No corrosion issues. Boat handled and docked like a dream. Enjoy.
The water pumps are mounted low. Changing the impellers on the raw water pumps is easy IF YOU CAN WORK UPSIDE DOWN AND HAVE THE RIGHT TOOLS. Using the small blue hand pump that comes with the motors allows you to drain the water out of the engine block and manifold down to the raw water pump...
It's really easy. The antifreeze runs right out. I use a three foot hose and line up the empty bottles. BTW I would leave anything in the heater, just drain and leave the drain valve OPEN.
I don't byass. I just run antifreeze thru the system, then use a hose on the water drain valve to collect the 6 or so gallons of antifreeze that was in heater back into the containe for reuse next year. Once empty leave the drain OPEN. Worked every year since 1997. No stink, no freeze...
It doesn't get cold enough here to justify a haul out and land storage. I leave my boat in the slip, winterize via PWM and use an engine compartment heater just for peace of mind. I also leave the bimini cover on since I like go to the boat during the winter and BS with friends. Never had...
Just a few observations I've made. 390/40 DA with Gas Engines (8.1 HO) will move right out but at 40+GPH. You'll be able to run with the big boys but you're going to pay.
When you buy you'll need to figure that when you finance it's $7-8 per month per thousand. With diesels you'll save on...
My previous boat was an 01 290 DA with twin 5.0 MPI BIIs. Generally speaking I liked the boat but wanted something bigger.
Performance was great, fuel efficiency was good ( for a boat). I didn't like the stern drives because of the maintenance involved. The lack of walk thru windshield was...
If yu think $70-$80 is high try $100. However, I've yet to miss a day boating because service was too backlogged or some idiot installed something incorrectly. Most places around here won't pay and they have a difficult time finding and keeping mechanics.
If you have a hot water heater, the FW pump will push everything into it and pressurize it first. Thats a six gallon fill. It takes me about 10 gals to do my boat (FW system only). Once you've run the pink stuff through all the lines and the toilet, you can drain the hot water heater into a...
Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do something. Will it work? You bet. Is it inexpensive-Yes! Is it dangerous? In my opinion-yes. The fact that Honda tells you not to do it is enough for me. I see people using these all the time even several boats in a raft-up with...
