Thanks again for the lift installation videos and review. I've used our lift one season (Florida winter) and regularly rinsed with fresh water and lubed the rail bearings with T9 but they are binding up. One other user (in Miami) said he replaces bearings annually. What has your experience...
After seeing your video in the Spring and closing on our new to us vessel, we ordered the Presto. It is currently being installed at River Forest in FL where she is stored for the Summer.
Our swim platform is only 12 inches off the water so hopefully we will not have the height issue you...
Thanks so much for the information. We are in the process of purchasing a 2020 Tiara 53 fly with only the standard (albeit extended) platform and got quotes for a "regular" hydraulic platform and this Presto. I really like the idea of all the gear out of the water. My only concern is "beefing...
I received some information on this lift (XL-500 attached) and would like to get some feedback from anyone who has one installed. Durability, usability, etc. The marketing information all sounds great, but I have not been able to find any user references. Having all the hydraulic gear out of the...
Check out Sam's Club Duracell (East Penn manufacturers them) deep cycle group 31 AGM's. Last time I purchased 4 for our inverter bank (April 2018) they were $155 each.
My original question was if no AC from shore or genset, would DC be better. I think we have confirmed this.
If running genset or on shore power, I think leave refrigeration on AC is better.
But these are my opinions, YMMV.
I assume these are "native" DC with the AC power coming through an inverter "brick" or similar? And that they look for AC first if both are available. Are these assumptions correct?
So a question is this. If away from shore power, not running genset and the refrigeration running on AC from an...
I assume you are talking about the exhaust riser. Had to replace them on our GB a couple years ago. Fabricated by a shop in Stuart, FL. Not cheap but good for another 10+ years they say. Salt water combined with hot exhaust is not a friendly environment. The pin holes will be much larger...
Plan to run genny when underway, but want an inverter for silent anchorages. Its so nice to make a cup of coffee in the AM in silence! Usually not too warm at night so don't need A/C, thus inverter to run refrigeration.
The 2013 parts manual and owners manual has two group 31's in front of the Starboard engine charged via a Pronautic 24v charger. So I think that will need to stay in place.
I'm thinking of putting the inverter and battery bank in the Staboard side lazarette. Not far to run the 120v wiring and...
Have had both on our GB. Based on our experience I prefer the Tides. I've fought with PSS "spray" a couple times since installation after Tides started leaking (1300 hours) and I replaced them with PSS which we have run for 2000 hours but used three seals. Also, once you have PSS, the shafts...
We hope to soon join this owners group. Have a purchase agreement and the survey is on Wednesday. Looking for specific issues to perhaps focus the surveyors on known issues on the 52 DBs.
So far, my research has turned up the QSM 11 exhaust leak issue and Cummins will be addressing this (no...
Been a while since I posted here but want to give another shout out of thanks to Frank W. He was kind enough to respond to someone who "left the fold" and went over to the dark side and now owns a trawler style boat.
Short story...we are on the Great Loop and needed some repairs that...
....or save up the knicks and buy a quart and have all of them fixed at the same time.
Good one Frank! I'll give them a call and see what I can arrange. Only a couple very minor knicks and a couple old mounting holes to repair at this point!
I was disappointed to see they have discontinued handling the small repair size bottles of custom matched gel coat. Has any one found a new source for small quantities?
Have a great time Jeff and Wendy! I hope to "dust off" my open water certificate and do some diving in St John/St Thomas the first week of Feb.....its been a couple years. And I agree with you....the only open water diving I did in Michigan was to get certified....since then the warm Caribbean...
