    Going to Chicago

The harbor is only around 30% full — you should have no issues finding a dock. Unfortunately there is not much to do directly around the harbor (food etc.). Kind a dead zone from a city life perspective. I’m at Belmont. A very short walk to pretty much anything.

Rafting tips and Fender selection questions

I have a related question. I’m wondering if I’m tying the stern of the boat incorrectly? I’m using a normal cleat hitch to connect the sterns. However, I have noticed the line/hitch can become very tight. Overall, I’m using three lines (stern, bow and spring). Should I be using a different knot...

    Water heater removal

I have the same boat, but one year older. My mechanic removed my heater and the motor was not pulled. My heater was located on the port side. If you have the water tank in front of the engine, this tank will most likely need to be temporarily removed.

    water in the bilge?

Based on initial description, my vote would be steering pin. If so, search the board. There is some pretty good info on how to do this type of repair. Two years ago, I had the same problem. I decided to pull the engine and replace the entire transom assembly.

Shore power, AC converter - How does this work? (250DA)

If you still have the original AC converter, you might want to look at upgrading. If it is a Pro Mariner they will give you a discount on the new one. Just call them. Nice guys. Just to restate, to run the cabin 12v lights and fans, the cabin rocker switch must be on plus battery switch. The...

Is a little water in the bilge ok?

IMO it is not normal. I would guess something is leaking and it is not water forward moving aft. I had a leaky hot water heater, water pump and steering pin. After replacing all these things, no more water in bilge.

Anything to look out for on a 95-98 250 Sundancer?

I have had my 250 for 5 seasons and very much enjoy the boat. I'm 6' 1" and while not perfect the cabin/head work for me. My boat has the 7.4/BI, very happy with this package, however the 7.4 likes to drink gas. I do wish the rear seat folded down to have better access to the engine room. I have...

Boat slams into breakwall at 30 mph

Wanted to share the news this morning. These stories seem to get pushed to the back page quickly... A 33-foot pleasure boat that hit the breakwall at Burns Harbor, Ind. this morning, sending two men aboard to hospitals, was traveling at an excessively high speed, authorities said. The craft...

Any advice on good "Sites to sell a Sea Ray"?

For what it is worth, I had the best luck when selling my previous boat, by having my broker park the boat in front of his lot, which was on a very busy street. I did place adverts on boattrader, iboats and craigslist. I got nothing going online. I don't know if it helped, but I traveled to...
