SmartCraft throws a "water pressure" alarm.

Greetings, I have a 2002, 270 Sundeck, 496 Mag HO, (fresh water cooling). I'm a decent mechanic and do my own work. I installed a thu hull fitting, before the water pump, when I got the boat eight months ago. She always runs right at 175 degrees, never any problems. It's my understanding that...

    You're forgiven ;) Yep, I'm sure.

Attention please, clean up on my mind. Alrighty, here goes. I'm one who prides myself on doing all my own work, but to be honest, I'm out of my "wheelhouse" on this I/O. I met with the marina today and they were more than gracious enough to let me speak with the mechanic. He answered all my...

All good ideas, thanks. I'm just trying to minimize the trial and error approach. No. Not sure how I would have done that on bunks.

Less than 200 hours on 2003 boat I changed all bellows recently.. gimble no. I/O's are persona non grata down here in saltwater. Almost no mechanics will touch them and I can understand why. I'd rather service a freestanding OB than work on my knees in tight quarters wrestling with an I/O.

Greeting all. Forgive my rambling but I'm frustrated and at wit's end. And, I consider myself a damn good mechanic. I'll add that I've owned boats for over 50 years and this is my first (and last) I/O. My 2003, 270 Sundeck, has a 496 HO shoehorned into it. Recently it's developed a "throbbing...

Potty talk: SeaLand vacuum generator 270 Sundeck

Still a mystery... slow learner. :(

Stiff shifter. No... not what you're thinking

270 Sundeck 496 Mag Bravo 3 I've never been thrilled with the effort required to shift from neutral to forward or reverse. Not terrible, but I have to "pop" it in gear. I lubed the remote, replaced the remote cable, and replaced the lower cable thru the transom. Today I removed the top cover on...

Thanks for the responses. I'll grab a friend and have him operate the switch in the head while I listen for the macerator. Gotta be somewhere. ;)

Potty talk: SeaLand vacuum generator 270 Sundeck

Thank you. On Florida's Atlantic side, federal waters begin at 3 miles offshore. On the Gulf, 9 miles. But I'm not the first boater to piss over the gunnel in state water. I

    test 123

I recently sold that. It was a solid car that I could drive anywhere and it sure drew attention. I've replaced it with a 1971 big block Corvette roadster... more funner.

Potty talk: SeaLand vacuum generator 270 Sundeck

I've got my "new to me" 270 pretty well sorted out... mechanically. The VacuFlush toilet fills and flushes. I've flushed several gallons to verify. I doubt anyone will crap in it but I expect a few ladies will pee in it. Since it's only pee, I have no qualms about discharging the tank overboard...

    270 and/or comparables

I have a 270 Sundeck. I assume the hulls are similar if not identical. I realize were not talking apples to apples here, but we do share some common concerns. The sundeck weighs in at 6000 lb... 9' beam. I pulled the boat down to my home in Florida from Knoxville with a F150. It's a handfull to...

    496 exhaust question.

    Hmmmm... interesting.
  17. Old Man In The Sea Ray

    496 exhaust question.

I know there are 2 types of exhaust bellows: the "original" type that clamp to the gimbal housing and the out drive, and the "sport" bellows tha clamp to the gimbal housing and just kiss the outdrive. My previous owner installed the sport type. The exhaust is surprisingly louder than I...

    270 Sundeck Thread - Questions & Answers

Did mine recently. I have a 496. It was an intimidating bitch. Just resign yourself to methodically removing anything in your way... no way around it. Start with the hatch surround. The hardest part (other than access) was the hoses on the pump. I ended up abandoning the red hose from the...

Need help understanding 496 Mag HO drain actuator assembly

Good question, I've searched. #9 is a small (3/16"?) air hose. I'll let you know it's source tomorrow. https://www.marineengine.com/parts/mercruiser-sterndrive-parts/81l-inboard-ho/0m026000-thru-0m319190/water-drain-system
