water in bilge below salon 1997 400DA

Check the drain hose from the tray at the bottom of your air conditioner. My drain plug for the condensation was clogged, and the A/C condensation was collecting in the tray below the A/C unit and leaking into the bilge. You would not believe how much water collected in the bildge from that...

Refigerator Replacemet and Cockpit Sliding Doors

I just replaced the Norcold on my 380. Remove the access panel over the top of the cockpit door. Remove the screws holding the door panels to the trucks at the top of the door. Remove the screws holding the door panels to the bottom rails. Then, remove the door panels. I took the old...

Caterpillar 3126 sea water pumps - impellors, rebuild, or replace?

The O-ring popped out when I removed the cap. I got a new O-ring when I bought the impellar. Neither one of the O-rings would go back in the groove without some end of it sticking out of the groove. Not sure how it is possible that even the original (and the new) o-rings both were to long to...

Caterpillar 3126 sea water pumps - impellors, rebuild, or replace?

What is the deal with the o-rings for the cap over the impellar? The new o-ring was way too long. It was impossible to get it into the cavity and seat it before putting the cap on. We ended up cutting the O-ring and shortening it, inserting it into the cavity, and sealing the cut ends with a...

changing engine zincs on Cat 3126

Just changed the zincs on the Cats last weekend. Three of the zincs broke at the neck of the annode. My buddy used a drill to get them out. He was able to drill into the zinc, and then pull it out on the end of the drill bit. I was surprised that the drill bit did not slip out of the zinc as...

Naples Florida Newbie / Boat Club

I am looking to join a boat club in Naples Florida. Anyone belong to a club that could give me some input and information about their club? Also, I will be down in Naples in two weeks to look at the Island Breeze Boat club (in Naples) and will be joining if things look good. Does anyone...

Bonnet Shores, or Mackrel Cove, RI?

I thought I would check back in after completing this trip. Bonnet Shores was way too exposed for a calm overnight, so I continued to Mackrel Cove. Nice anchorage that is about 1/4 of mile wide and maybe 1 mile long with about 8 feet of water at low tide. At the end of the cove is a decent...

    3116 or 3126?

I have a 2000 380 with 3126 CATS. I average 18 GPH (take hours since last fill up and devide by gallons purchased), but that is pretty consistent whether I idle a lot, or am at cruising speed (2400 RPM and 21 to 23 knots depending on sea conditions). I use only genuine CAT parts / oil on my...

Bonnet Shores, or Mackrel Cove, RI?

I think what I will do (based on the recommendations) is come in to Bonnet Shores on Friday morning and spend the day. Then make a decision about whether I want to stay there overnight on Friday night, or head up to Mackrel Cove for the night. I want to stay on the hook most of Saturday before...

Bonnet Shores, or Mackrel Cove, RI?

I want to spend a night anchored near a beach close by to Newport. I have narrowed it down to either Bonnet Shores, or Mackrel Cove. I have been to Bonnet Shores (by car) and saw some boats anchored out, but I am worried that it could get rough overnight there. However, when I look at the...

    Connecticut River Navigation

You can fit under both bridges while they are closed. I have a 2001 380 Sundancer which I dock at the marina next to the Amtrack bridge in Old Saybrook. Always go under the bridge, even when it is down. Not an issue for your boat. The bridge near Haddam is even higher....no problem.

    Hardwood Floor Installation Questions

Finished pulling up the carpet this weekend, and cleaning (most of) the glue off the floor: http://s1223.photobucket.com/albums/dd504/ericrace/Floor%20installation/ It took about 18 - 20 man hours to get the carpet up, and clean the glue. We had to chisel the carpet off the floor, because...

    Fender placement

I have used Fendergrip holders for years. They are great. Only problem is that if you ever drop them in the water, they do not float. They are a little expensive but well worth it.
