hybrid power train / tiny diesel genset.. Works on Sail.
We all need to much torque and speed for electric power train to work on a cruiser or speedboat. I had a dock neighbor that made the switch last year. Got a steal on a Beneteau 40. Some serious room on that thing
I think that is mostly the use case I see with these. My air is 16000btu/15A btu as well on the cabin and normal draw is just about 900w.
I have the 8.1s in my 340 and the previous owner removed the genset when he did the manifolds and dripless 2 years prior to me purchasing the boat. Ive had...
Been Watching the last couple episodes of Sailing Doodles and it has been interesting watching them cruise around the keys and the Bahamas in a Sundancer 340. They transported one of those 2kw lipo battery banks and some solar panels and have shown pro/cons of them effectively.
Maybe we are...
Oversized large tabs and 4 blade prop makes the 340 with 8.1 a completely different boat. hops on plane at 1900 rpm, amazing grip at dock and at the optimal RPM/torque curve of 3200RPM for those GM engines, gives you a solid 26-28 MPH.
3 prop was around 23-24MPH and ran the engine at much...
In Sandusky, we always have this issue with the black soot from the air, but this year its been alot worse with the Canadian wildfires. After a week, just a wipedown of the isinglass produces a black towel..
Comical, as most of the developers/software engineers/PMs etc all use macbooks. Im on my third pre-IPO SV startup right now (1 previos went IPO, 1 did not, this one will) and its the primary supported device. Deff a west coast thing. I run a macbook as my mobile and win11 as desktop because I...
I got lucky and went in on Friday afternoon. Weather was 70 here in Sandusky. Boys wanted to go and stay the night so we left and prepped everything. First cruise out on Saturday just when we got on plane leaving marina, my oldest tells me we are getting flagged down. 18' bass boat engine...
Ill second the 8610xsv. Have it paired with the Fantom 18. I wanted to install a 743 for a second screen but have other pressing items for this year.
A heading sensor ( mine comes from old ray ST5000 autopilot bridged to nmea2000 seatalk gateway) solves all your problems.
You can also get one of the nylon bristle heads but they only work on cold grill. When things get real grimey take grates out and blast with preasure washer.
A paint scraper also works well and is mostly what I use on my RecTeq, but mainly to scrape off drip tray
I put in the fusion 670 and and wish I would have gotten the 770 for the native wifi and extra zone. My plan was to run the cabin speakers off the built in amp on head unit, but that messed up zone stuff to the amp, so I just left that crappy factory amp in for cabin on zone 3. That way radio...
I guess I wouldnt have to, but..
I disconnected the tridata from seatalk network and I stopped getting data to nmea 2000 (rudder and heading). The auto pilot then displays a ST failure alarm that has to be acknowledged. That's with the SeaTalk bridge to nmea right off the Autopilot. If the...
Have the Same boat as you up in Sandusky. Starting in Late 2021 through last summer I updated most all of the electronics from the factory Raymarine. Im a in IT so fiddling with electronics is an obsession of mine. Boat had tridata and ST60+ auotpilot but previous owner sold off chart plotter...
This is a picture of Wayfinder in San Diego and a shot of the harbor from my hotel room in August. It is a support vessel for one of the boats on its Starboard side most likely. It can store 3- 36' tenders, has a helipad, and a crew of 18. Its Bill Gates. When your boat, has a boat, that has...
This is for a 340 with a 36.5 LOA
40' floating dock on Sandusky bay with dedicated water, power, cable hookup went up $150 to $3150 for 2023. Marina has a pool, full service, showers, free pump out, gas dock, and average Internet. We are there mid-april to late October. Biggest increase this...
