Going to look at a 1990 270 Sundancer - Anything particular to look for?

1990 was the first year for the vinylester resin and had blister issues. Not sure if that is the proper name but it as to reduce toxins in the resins, which means takes the good stuff out. My 1990 250 had blisters the first year and was recoated with blister guard gelcoat, then kept on a...

    Official 350 Thread

Hi guys, Enjoy you boats, just sold mine after using it for 12 seasons. Close on it this weekend and hand over the keys. Really liked the boat, just the right size, but time to do something else. This labor day will be the first one in 25 years that we have not been our own boat. If I ever...

    Post Your Classic's Top Speed

I get 31 mph WOT. These models have deep prop pockets as they where designed as good coastal cruisers with shallow drafts. But that means slow with terrible efficiency.

    Wax. How much is enough?

And don't wait until it "looks" like it needs it to do it again. Much easier to keep it nice and shiny by waxing it more often than waiting until it gets chalky and dull. I have a 22 year old boat that I would put up against many 1-2 year old boats out there. Even though I am under cover, and...

    washing cockpit carpets

I use a soapy brush while laying on my driveway, then hang them on the deck railing and rinse with garden hose. We have a lot of pressure so it works well and but not risk damaging the fibers.

1989 Vintage 34 ft Sundancer has battery charger issues. Anyone able to troubleshoot?

Re: 1989 Vintage 34 ft Sundancer has battery charger issues. Anyone able to troublesh Your 1989 smart charger is not nearly as smart as they are today. Was money well spent on my boat to upgrade to a Xantrex True Charge.

    Smelly hot water

A trick I use for the main freshwater tank is to completely fill it before I leave each time. I mean it is the last thing I do before putting the bow cover on. No air means no oxygen for bacteria to grow. And I only use a white hose made for drinking water. As for the sulpher smell in the...

    Generators::

I use a Honda 2000 for my travel trailer, and even with it down wind on a 30' long power cord I still am careful about it. Unless you tie it to a raft and let it drift well away from the boat, I would not do it.

    Improved fuel economy

I burn around 38 gph with mine running around 3400 rpm, doing around 23 mph. When I slow down to 1050-1100 rpm I am running around 7+ mph and getting 1.25 mpg. Sounds like 2200 rpm is digging a huge hole with little gain over a fast idle speed. Granted your boat is heavier than mine but you...

How far would you travel to buy a boat?

I bought our current boat from around Dallas, Texas. Had been looking hard for a fresh water boat, in great shape. Had been on a few wild goose chases where the boats turned out to be rags, at least compared to how they where advertised. When this broker called and promised it was in...

What Do You Think Of Sea Ray Living Magazine?

They did a story on Lake Cumberland a few years ago. Funny how many dressed up and acted differently so they would look like the magazine when they came and tied up with the group. Lots of us did our normal boating thing like any other weekend tie up. Of course they only took pictures of...

    Fuel prices supposed to spike!

We have to pay for our own health care, so it really comes out about the same in the long run ;)
