SeaRide, yup you are correct ! Great Lakes replied to my query later today and sure enough made in AZ and the patterns were lost. Westland is the tag on the engine divider curtains. A real shame indeed. I replaced my 2nd water pump this year and we are waiting for the bellows gimble kit to...
I would sit the boat in the water for a few hours and see if any water appears. If not, take it out and run for a few hours and check again. If water appears only when running, dry land it and attach the ears and run with the garden hose. I recall several years ago one of my blue plastic plugs...
The large side decals came off with ease as well as the glue. I did not remove the one that covers the area where the teal gel coat meets the white as well as the lowest teal and gold at the bottom just above the water line. Very pleased with the new look. The pin strips on the upper cockpit are...
I may just do the same, strip all the decals and see how it looks. Now the question, what is the best way to remove the existing and the glue? Wonder if I can buff the sides in order to match the area that has never seen sun for 15 years.
SeaRide,
he was cleaning his tin geri boat of the summer slime and fish guts from the carpet; he really takes care of his belongings. For whatever reason he figured he would clean the side of mine while we were home from the "family" cottage. The SOB started at the bow and didn't quit until he...
My dear brother took a pressure washer to one side of my boat. You would think once he noticed the decals flying, he would have stopped, but NO he blasted the *^&# out of them. SeaRay no longer has the side decals for a 98. Any suggestions next to sinking his tin Geri pontoon boat? My "Ray" was...
The present radio is a Clarion Marine M5275 (removable face plate). I would like to find one that would mount is the existing hole and utilize the existing power and speaker arrangement.
I have a 1998 230 Signature BR and wish to replace the original dash mounted radio with a SAT / AM / FM / CD unit. Any suggestions of a make and model that will fit the original location. Where do you suggest mounting / hiding the SAT XM Sirius antenna?
Bang on, the service manager is correct! I have a 7.4 454 cu. in. MPI spinning a BIII leg and it whistles as it throttles up as well. As for fuel, I burn high test.
Mike, I can not stress the importance of alignment enough. I had issues removing my drive and re installing it for 3 years. Finally I had to replace the cup, not once but twice within 4 years; no forward or reverse; the rubber in the cup was toast. We used an alignment tool and found the engine...
MMO; I run it in my lawn mower, boat, 4 wheeler, chain saw and especially the 28 Ford Model A. I used to top off the fuel tank prior to summer or winter lay up. Now I drain everything and when the season starts, I fill them up with high test, a splash of MMO and have experienced no problems...
Lads, I have been following a thread for several months regarding wood replacement by a fellow in Texas. The work he has done and the extensive restoral job is well beyond what I would attempt. I'll try and post the link.

Interesting they make mention of "cruiser models". I know from experience that the sun pad wood is not marine grade, rather very cheap plywood. I replaced mine due to rot a few years ago and used marine grade.
I would be delighted to learn that the stringers are glass vs wood. I have a 1998 230 bowrider and fear water rot under the glass floor. Hope someone has the answer.
Wow, what a great piece of information re the hull. It is a sad day when you don't learn something new. This site is a wealth of information to anyone looking for a new boat as well as those who presently own a "Ray".
I have a 99 230 Signature BR with the 7.4 BIII drive. It is by far one of the best laid out, smooth running and trouble free units I've seen. Plenty of get up and go and the BIII drive brings her out of the hole fully loaded with 8 on board without any trouble. Unless "lady luck $" came my way...
I can not argue that some oils are better than others however; I ran a 4.3 V6 in a 19' Cadorette for 12 years and over 1000 hours without ever touching the block with a wrench. I used the merc 25-40, changed it every 100 hours prior to winter storage. My Searay 23' 7.4 454ci gets the same...
