    Our boatload of college kids

A few weeks ago my son asked if he could have a few friends down for the weekend before everybody heads back to school so I said that was fine. He tells me 4-5. So I ask a couple weeks ago who is coming. he tells me 3 former roommates, 2 current roommates and 5 from our home town. Soooo, I...

    Generator is kicking my rear

My Westerbeke 12.5KW BTDB gen is shutting down intermittently. Started happening about 4-5 weeks ago and has happened 5-6 times now. The gen will start and run perfectly for several hours straight, for example, ran for ~10 hours straight this past Saturday then suddenly shut down. It always...

Blue hull 52DB on the hard for some repair work

The yard is busy on this 52db. Didn't see the damage on the port side before they started sanding but the starboard looks like its has some decent size gouges. Nothing a little money can't fix.

Bob Marley, Storms, bridles, diesel fuel...awesome

This post has no wisdom, no questions, no real point to it. Just passing along some good vibrations. So you are forewarned. Needed a break from work so my first mate and I took a couple days off. Pulled away from dock around noon yesterday and headed out with no real destination or time...

Any Sea Ray bikers out there?

I could post this on a biker site I guess, but you never know who you’re going to hear from. Atleast I “know of” some of you and who is full of BS and who is not. As the last thing I need is a Harley version of Wingnuts trying to give me advice. So, consider me asking for a mulligan in...

    New dock neighbor

The 70' Stardust houseboat with waterslide and circus lights is gone and a 96ish 500DA is in. I'm happy. Next to the 500DA is a 60' Viking motoryacht ...and we have NOT seen anyone aboard in 2+ years. Have a fairly new but not-one-of-the-stupid-looking 52 Cruiser Express's on my port...

    naked room?

The past weekend was a big one for us. We finished remodeling a house we bought for our 22 yr old daughter and moved her in. Wife's handling it pretty well. I'm trying to think of something to do with the empty bedroom we now have. We don't need 4 bedrooms since its just the two of us now...

Season ending numbers & other useless stuff

We bought a house for my daughter a few weeks ago (one kid out of college; one to go) and have been spending a lot of time doing a major remodel so we probably won’t have a chance to make it back to the boat before its time to finally put her to bed for the winter. I filled and treated the...

    Hauling out

Hauled the boat out Monday morning to have the bottom paint redone and some maintenance work done. I'm having the lift mechanicals touched up, saltwater zincs removed and magnesium anodes put on, spare wheels put on, and cutlass bearings & running gear checked. I had the boat hauled in FL...

    You should read this.

Heading to the water after work today for an 8-day vacation. The 4th is always bittersweet for our boating group because of a tragic loss we suffered as a group on the night of July 4th years earlier. This year will mark the 10 year anniversary of a horrific night we'll never forget when one...

New pump works with odors & sump water levels

Been reading all the posts lately about smells and water in AC pans, gray water boxes, sumps and so on. I was always 'bugged' by the way the standard Rule floats and pumps in the gray water box wouldn't evac enough water out thereby leaving standing water prone to become a source for odors and...

Pics from quite a trip home

Here's a few pics from our trip home from Panama City. We made the 850 mile trip in just over 4 days, pulling out at 1130 on Friday May 3 and arriving at our homeport in KY at 1200 on Tuesday May 7. Ugly weather for most of the trip. Day 1 saw us battling 20-25k winds and rough seas as we...

Long Boat Trip Next Week - appreciate your help...

Kayachtic is currently on schedule to depart her winter port in Panama City, FL on Friday May 3 and begin her ~850 mile cruise north to her homeport in Western Ky. We'll be transiting the inland waterways (Tombigbee River, Tenn-Tom Waterway, Tennessee River) once we cross the Gulf to Mobile...

    My sea ray christmas gifts

My daughter came up with a couple great Christmas gift ideas. She made a calendar of our boat trip to Florida and did all the legwork for a book my in-laws gave me that has pics of all 6 of our SR's and a bunch of other favorite boating pics of mine. Each boat has a couple pages of pics. Both...
