    Alpha Gen 2 Upper Shims

Hoping for an answer. I have a 2001 Alpha Gen 2 drive on a 225 weekender. Drive has approx 350 hrs. I have owned boat for 5 years and done all required maintenance on drive. Running like a champ until this past summer. I noticed a very slight amount of gear lube loss from bottle at engine. It...

    Mirage Plus

Thanks...My WOT is 4400-4800 currently. I was just told that the "older" style hub if it is an older prop are prone to failure. Is this true?

    Mirage Plus

Please educate me. I am thinking about getting a "used" Mirage prop for my Alpha 1 Gen 2, 5.0L EFI. 225 Sea Ray. I would like to get a better hole shot with more than 4 people on my boat. I currently have a 48-16316-19 prop, It works very well other than when trying to get on plane quicker with...

Water hose and gear lube hose replacement

Unfortunately it's that time of year where my boat has been pulled for winter. Last season I noticed while putting on new zincs that my water hose and lube hose are pretty cracked and look brittle when my drive is in full up. I gambled and said I will fix this winter. Luckily zero issues, no...

    Prop Recommendation

Million dollar question. I really don't know. I did not have a chance to get a pic of prop with numbers on it before I dumped back in the water. I had it out changing the lower shift cable.

    Prop Recommendation

Hope someone can guide me in the right direction. Unfortunately not an expert on props by any means. I have a 2001 225 5.0 efi, 240 hp. Max rpm between 4400 - 4800 rpm. The boat is running extremely well but was told by a reputable mechanic that my original prop (alpha 1 gen 2) is worn pretty...

    Sign and Glide

Will do, I have read on other places that you may not be covered for tows from sand bars (90 percent of south shore. LOL) or you will also have to pay out of pocket for some of the costs.

    Sign and Glide

So far I'm satisfied with Progressive. I don't own a "true yacht" anyway, but thanks for your advice. I do have Gold with Tow Boat and yes I am in a very busy area along the south shore of long island so if I ever do need Im concerned about response time. Thanks for your input. I would love to...

    Sign and Glide

Apologies if I am in wrong forum for this question. I am a current holder of Tow Boat US. and have a policy with Progressive. I am thinking of adding sign and glide for minimal additional costs annually (Dropping Tow Boat US). Tow Boat is $200 and renew is coming up. I know I should not really...

    Bilge Pump...stereo not working.

Agree with Nater............I had the identical problem last year, granted I have the 225 but I'd bet same wiring. The problem with mine was a bad connection at the battery, I cut back wire and re did. Cleaned all grounds and neg bus and checked all splices in circuit.

How frequently do you get your engine/drive serviced?

I so did not want to hear that. I did pressure test after I did the pump and housing last season. No leaks all good, held pressure. The manual states every 100 hrs or annually. Whichever comes first.

How frequently do you get your engine/drive serviced?

I am jumping in this thread with a question, my apologies. In regards to changing water pump (drive) annually I would like to know this: Last season April 1st I put in a complete impeller and pump housing with all gaskets. I did approx 60 hrs runtime on drive last season. Pulled Oct 30th...

    Rookie mistake?

OK...Lazy Daze you are correct. I did have a plug under the fuel cooler. Had to be a contortionist to get at it but all good. Drained remaining water. Filled block and manifolds. She is down for her winter nap........Thank you all who assisted me.

    Rookie mistake?

Manifolds will be filled, All is dry, open to air, pretty warm in NY still, going to plug and fill this w/e. I ordered new plugs. As far as the cool fuel goes I still have not found one, but looking at the IPB I see that there should def be one. When I remove the batteries this w/e I can get a...
