Generator on 390 EC: minimum fuel required in tank

Ahhh, thanks, great idea! I'm on an inland lake so no real worries about potentially running out of fuel, and I can always limp home on the port engine if that we're to happen. Of course, no overnight trips anyway until I get a replacement water tank installed. It never ends...

Generator on 390 EC: minimum fuel required in tank

Ugh... I sure hope it's the fuel gauge, but given the way this old girl's treated me thus far, I kind of doubt it.

Generator on 390 EC: minimum fuel required in tank

Thanks for the reply. Checking the gauge will be easy. What about the pick up line (I know its pretty tight above the tank). Is it a flexible line? Can it be removed and replaced?

Generator on 390 EC: minimum fuel required in tank

I know I've seen this somewhere on-line, but I can't find it now on any forum... Can some one tell me at what level the generator fuel pickup is on an '85 vintage 390 EC? I have an 8.5 Westerbeke that feeds from the stbd. tank. It wouldn't start two weeks ago and the gauge read barely under...

    sliding door roller replacement

Thanks for the info! I haven't torn into mine yet, but will as soon as it warms up a bit. Does anyone know how many rollers there are/would need replacing? Just 2?

    Official 390 E.C. Thread

Does anyone know who supplied the steering wheels for the early 390's? Was it a 15" Attwood like in the attached pic? From the pics I've seen on other EC's it looks correct, as far as being stainless w/6 spokes. Someone replaced the one on my boat with a smaller wooden model like on newer...

My windows are also lexan, I think, are yours?

    Window Rebuild 1986 Sundancer 268 (268DA)

I spoke with someone at Taylor Made today and I was told that they didn't make the windows for an '85 390 (or any windows for that vintage), but that they did provide the windshields. So then I call Sea Ray and got a parts list for an '89 off the web site (as far back as they go, but I think...

    Official 390 E.C. Thread

I'm going through the same process with my '85 390. (Note to self, pay for the damn survey next time!) I pulled an FMC tank that was installed in 2005 and am trying to mitigate water in the center bilge (port lights...) before I purchase and install a new tank. They still make the exact...

    Window Rebuild 1986 Sundancer 268 (268DA)

Thanks, Ron. Very helpful. I wish I could easily get my boat inside & on the hard to do this, but the lake I'm on doesn't even have a Travelift. Both windows are pretty wacked due to previous slapdash "repairs" and I'm sure I haven't helped matters, but trying my best to mitigate water...

    Window Rebuild 1986 Sundancer 268 (268DA)

Hey Ron, Thanks for the supply link! I was looking for a supplier for gaskets for my 390 EC. So I have a question for you and others who may have done this. I understand these windows were all designed to slide open in some fashion; however, the PO's of my boat attempted to seal everything...

    sliding door roller replacement

I need to do this job on my '85. Did you source your replacement rollers at Home Depot? Are top and bottom rollers the same? Do you happen to know which specific ones you used... link maybe?

Boating Skills: What did you learn this year?

I've been working on my boat since I bought her in Sept, e.g. impellers, thermostats, packing gland, window, stove, head repair, etc... I'm learning a helluva lot about all the systems on an old 390 and feeling more and more that, in spite of all her "issues" she's mine to keep and make better...

Very lucky Sea Ray Owner found at sea.

Article doesn't say, but I guess this was a 320 SunDancer. Lucky it had an air pocket after capsizing. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/11/30/us/Stuart-bee-missing-boat-Florida-port-canaveral.html?auth=login-email&login=email

Thanks... I was afraid of that. At least the rollers will be easy to source!

    39' EC 1988 a few questions and

I have a similar problem on my '85 390 EC which needs new rollers on the door bottom. So I guess you don't have to remove the door to get at the rollers you took out in the pictures? Did you find a source for roller replacements?

Wanted: Diagram of cabin water systems for an early 390 EC

Does anybody have one or know where I can get one? Interested in seeing how the "city" water and fresh water holding tank systems are linked and where.

    Canvas frame replacement/source

Thanks, guys, for the replies. I contacted Sea Ray and the early 390's only came factory frame and canvass forward of the radar arch, so full cockpit enclosures would all be after market. The shops I've spoken with say they could make it pretty easily, IF they have all the original frame...
