Thanks! That I CAN do. Last winterization was $800. Have had alarms since beginning of summer this year. Getting checked out now and hopefully can get some water time in soon.
Thanks again!

2006 Sundance’s 290 at Smith lake in north Alabama. When should think about winterizing? Has heater in engine compartment. Should I only worry about head and potable water?

Oh and oil was just changed, good level and no oil in bilge area, etc. Only considering changing both to avoid another expense on pulling engine for other repairs, etc. Have him check belts, impellers, everything while out, etc.
Bad choice?
Never been in salt water. Mechanic hooked up to manual oil ?? and did Mercruiser update prior to using it. When he got up to 3500-4000 rpm, oil pressure dropped to 15-18 almost immediately on port side. We've had "throttle down" message on both engines so while he has them out I figured change...
This was a very high pitched shrill. Finally went off on its on.
Now with bigger issues. Told needs 2 new oil pumps and "have to pull both engines to do it." Seems a bit drastic, especially at estimate of $4000 or so. Getting throttle down message at about 3500-4000 rpm on one, the other...
Warning to reduce throttle on either or both drives at 3800-4000RPM. Mechanic suggests new oil compressors. Does this sound appropriate and price reasonable? 2006 only a couple hundred hours.
Thanks for thoughts.
When I get to around 4K RPM, one or both engines send message to throttle down, and frequently go into a auto- throttle down mode. Put in neutral, message goes away and then can throttle back up, but not above 3800 to 4000 RPM. Just serviced for summer. Oil good.
Is this simply a bad sensor???
Oh yeah, monitors look good. Only difference is in the trim. Different on each side-even if both props down fully.
I'm new at this - forgive my ignorance.
Thank you both! Haven't checked or knew there was a forward bilge. NO water in the stern. I turned on bilge and no water came out. Should i put some water in the aft engine region and try the bilge?
Also, we keep getting a "throttle down" alarm intermittently on both engines at around 4000...
Twice we've had a piercing alarm go off while using or draining the galley or bar sinks! We've turned off shore power, batteries and all sources of power, but alarm continues. Cant find where it's coming from, how to turn off or why its going off. All fluid levels are good. Not CO monitor or...
