    Throttle and RPM Differential

Are you talking about the alignment of the two levers, meaning thatthe levers don't line up when you have both engines running at the same RPM? That's a simple adjustment. When I got my boat, they didn't line up and it bothered me. I had it adjusted. There is and will be some play in the...

    300 D.A. w/5.0 bravoIII ?

My numbers, cruise, rpm, gph, are consistent with JG's. I don't own mine anymore either. I traded it in last Saturday on a 2006 Meridian 341 SB. I was unable to get on plane a few times with a large load in rough water but, for the majority of the time, the boat is not underpowered...

2005 sea ray 300 da selling as new price question

Wouldn't it be nice to be able to afford two boats. One for fun and performance and one for comfort and luxury. But the 300 is a great choice for one boat that offers a little of both. Actually a lot of both. go to meridian-yachts.com and click the 341.

    Boating Mag's 310DA Propulsion Test

Are there any performance differences between V drives and straight inboards? I know you could never do a comparison with the same hull since a boat would only be offered with on or the other.

2005 sea ray 300 da selling as new price question

I have to agree with you about the size A*aron. It really is a good size but that really depends on how you use it. It's big enough to be comfortable as a day boat and maybe one night aboard for a couple. Big enough to go out for the day with friends. I always considered it a sport boat...

2005 sea ray 300 da selling as new price question

Keets, On a single engine boat with a single prop, the stern will walk to port when backing. The Bravo 3 has counter rotating props one in front of the other. That eliminates the problem I just described. You also get better performance because you have 6 blades in the water. Boats...

2005 sea ray 300 da selling as new price question

You definitely need to take the Coast Guard course. You should also hire a captain for a day. You'll be glad you did. I would not store an outdrive boat in the water over the winter. Bow thruster is nice to have. I have it and use it. It's not a necesity.

2005 sea ray 300 da selling as new price question

Keets, A couple of comments: 300 is not too much boat for a first boat. My first boat was a Maxum 2700. I moved up to a 300 after less than one season. Many people will agree, you buy the biggest boat you can afford. Thsi boat with twin engines is much easier to maneuver than a smaller...

Why did my 300 lose so much value?

The swim platform is very deep, 3 feet. So the drives are not near the edge of the swim platform at all. This is a bolt on swim platform as opposed the the molded in type where you can actually see the drives tilted up when you stand on the swim platform. You can email me and I'll send you a...

Why did my 300 lose so much value?

Doug, I still have it. You would have to get a shipping quote first which you could easily do online. I have no idea what it would cost but boats ship all over the country all the time. I wouldn't sell it for the same price for the trade unless I knew I could get a better deal on the new...

Why did my 300 lose so much value?

Congratulations Dom. Frank, thanks for the advice. My boat is clean. I actually changed from Green Canvas to Tan. I needed to replace my plastic windows and I got a great deal on a new full Camper Canvas from a MarineMax on eBay. I bought the full set of canvas for $500. Less than the...

Why did my 300 lose so much value?

Skip, Thanks for that info about your neighbor. The boat was redesigned for '06. Not syaing that the quality would be better but it's a much nicer layout. The fuel burn you mentioned sounds about right for gas engines. I read a review and they reported 36GPH at cruise. Performance and...

Why did my 300 lose so much value?

First Born, I didn't buy the Sea Ray new. It is a 2002. I bought it at the end of its third season after I thought it had already depreciated a lot. It only had 74 hours on it. JG, Good points. Sounds like yougot a great deal when you bought new. I think the market defintely...

Why did my 300 lose so much value?

Let me provide some more info. It's not really 2 foot-itis. I wouldn't bother going to a 320. It's not worth all the extra money. I'm looking at a Meridian 341. It was redesigned for 2006. So it's lot more boat than the 300. There is a dealer selling a used 2006 for about $45,000 less...

Why did my 300 lose so much value?

I bought my 300 Sundancer in August '04 for $115,000 It's pretty loaded: Radar, Generator, Bow Thruster, Windlas, Cockpit Fridge I upgraded the chartplotter to a color unit. I installed SmartCraft SystemView 5000, Upgraded to Camper Canvas with new Canvas Now after 2 1/2 seasons I was...

Avg. Fuel Consumption on my twin 8.1S Mercs

Alex, I guess the big question is, what speed do you cruise at. I have SmartCraft on my boat so I know my GPH at cruise and I also calculate it like you did by dividing hours into gallons. I use 17 and change per hour over all on my 300 with twin 5.0 MPI's / Bravo 3's. You only put 24...

Lessons learned using an inboard generator on 330 Sundancer

Rock, Thanks for that info. I have the same genset on my 300 but it's a 2002. I wonder if they changed the design at all.
