Though I keep my boat at the marina during the summer and store it inside a building on the Marina's grounds, I do two my boat home at least once (50 miles) to clean and wax her up. I use either my F150 4x4 or our Tahoe. Both do fine, but I don't go too fast either. I have 10 ply tires on the...
Hey Lime,
Glad to hear your boat project is going well. I put in new carpet, stereo/DVD system, and did some upholstery and seat work. Always something to do!
I have the same Lowrance model you have...the Lake Insight edition. The learning curve is def a steep one. lol
Keep in touch...
I'd like to know the best way to remove a stripe. I have a stripe, just above the rub rail, that is cracked and needs to be taken off. What's the best way to do this?
Believe it or not, Turtle Wax makes a product called "Ice" that is super easy to apply and looks great too.
Hey there!
Have you splashed your boat yet this season? We're planning to do just that this weekend. Hope to get up your way this year for sure! Keep in touch.

Just me,
Great looking boat! Where did you get your replacement decals and striping? Also, did you detail the boat yourself? If so, what buffer did you use and what type of polish?
I can't wait until Spring!
Hey Lime,
I was looking at your photos of your restoration progress and noticed you took the interior side panels off. How do those get removed? I don't see any screws or anything to hold them on. Mine are in need of replacement.
Keep up the good work!
Man, this is really a labor of love, huh? I give you a lot of credit, working throughout the winter cold and all. Thanks for sharing all the gireat photos. Looks like the project is going really well! :smt038

Just me,
Photos are outstanding! I have a 1986 268 Weekender and love it. Where did you find the replacement stripes? I'm planning that for a spring project before splashing her again in May. Nice job!
Wow, a big ball of cheese... I guess we're all 'cheeseheads', huh? lol
Thanks for the thread, Dennis. I didn't find that one in my previous search.
I figure if the tank is closer to full, and has stabilizer in it, there's less chance of developing moisture during the storage months.
OK, since his hasn't been said yet, I guess I will... using WD-40 on rubber, especially something as critical as the bellows on a boat, is a bad idea. The WD 40 will displace water for a short time (and has its place) on non rubber products, but breaks down and prematurely ages anything made...
I know photos can be deceiving, everything looks great to me. Have you taken her out for a sea trial yet? The hours on the motor would not be a concern for me if proper maintenance was performed.
Larry,
I must disagree slightly with you, but I may also be a bit biased. True, it seems there are many unanswered questions about this particular boat. I would have a marine survey done...that should help immensely, especially if you don't know exactly what to look for.
As for the...
