So I hit a good size wake on Saturday and now magically I have oil pressure again. :D
That actually kind of helps narrow down the issue! But I noticed my engine runs suspiciously cool; like zero degrees. I'll diagnose that next! :D
Hi folks! I'm relatively new to boating and my wife and I are going into our 3rd season with our little 185. Last summer, On an outing early into the season, I looked down and my heart skipped a beat when I saw zero oil pressure on the gauge. My mind settled down though when I realized we...
Since my impeller was changed in July and the boat has only been on the water for two occasions after that, I think I'm going to leave the gear oil alone in the outdrive.
I'm in Georgia, and the boat will be out in an open yard.
I'll be using this to put antifreeze through it: https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/camco-do-it-yourself-boat-winterizer-kit-for-inboard-outboard-engines
I haven't even winterized my 185 yet but I'm already planning towards the future! Hopefully this weekend I will be winterizing the boat; fuel treatment, pink antifreeze using the flush bottle method, fog the motor, lower the outdrive for storage, remove the battery (and store on a tender)...
Thanks guys. I'll take a look at those options. The pair that started smelling bad are supposedly made for the water, and are almost all rubber except for the upper. But I guess water got in the soles. Horrible!
I love being out on the lake and out on the boat. I typically wear a type of footwear that is kind of like a hybrid of a sneaker and a sandle. The problem is; water gets in the sole and usually causes them to fall apart. Last night I experienced a new one! We couldn't figure out why the main...

Got another small thing done this Sunday; I installed a replacement Sunbrella cover on the bow of the boat. It doesn't match the main cockpit cover but I can live with that. It was pretty easy to install the snaps.
After I got the cover done, I drug the boat down the street to put it the...
Hahahahaha
I'm am all about the HKs and 1911s! I spent the last 6 or 7 so years as a firearms instructor with my agency and we issue GLOCK pistols. But we also have a handful of HK MP3s with the fun switch that I thoroughly enjoyed on the range. And on Fridays I carried a double stack 1991 for...
Everything is working great. I've been out three times now without any issues so far. The trim pump reservoir also had some signs of water mixed with the fluid but that has been vacuumed out and replaced with my oil change. I forgot that part of it.
While on an early test drive the owner left the drain plug out of the boat. I popped the engine cover to discover the engine pretty well submerged. The boat began stalling soon after and completely stalled while I was grabbing the owner's trailer to get on the ramp. We let it drain, and the...
