    Adjusting surge brake master cylinder

I replaced the master cylinder on the 31 yo trailer with new unit. They matched up perfectly. BUT, I want to be sure that all is working as it should be. I've bled and bled and bled and it still takes two strokes to get good brakes. I'm wondering if the rod should be adjusted a bit? Anybody...

    Throttle cable question

Never had a throttle cable off or apart. My Merc manual doesn't show a diagram or anything, just how to adjust it at the transom. The engine bay hatch fell onto the motor on the 260DA and bent the shaft part that connects to the carburator. I straightened it some but it still binds and won't...

    Tricks to replace fuel pump???

Spent most of last Sunday laying across the engine dangling my upper torso upside down to replace the fuel pump on the Dancer. This is not something I'd enjoy doing again and definately not something I could imagine doing bobbing up & down in the water (it was on the lift). Is there a better...

Delta Mariner takes out Eggner's Ferry bridge in western KY

http://www.wkdzradio.com/pages/9733134.php Another maritime accident. No real details yet. She's passed under before, maybe missed the main channel and tried to go under a lower span? At least no injuries as far as we know.

How do you ocean guys pull up to the beach?

Looking through the pictures forum I see you ocean boaters with runabouts etc that pull right up into the surf and beach the boat. Some nose in, others a long side and some have the aft in. How do you do that or know where to do that? Seems like there's not enough water there to get that...

Headed to the Keys, need some tips

My brother and I are taking the kids to the Keys next April. We'll leave our boats at home but plan to rent a center console 18-20' to play around in, snorkle etc. Probably at Big Pine Key. We (kids & all) grew up on the water and around boats. For me, thats about 35 years. Problem is, even...

    FM antenna?

I know some folks use the railing as their FM antenna. What's the proper way to do that? Does it matter which co-ax wire you connect? And what do you do with the other? Figured there was already a thread on this but I can't find one. Thanks.

    Short LEDs?

I have two bulbs left to replace on the 260DA before everything is finally LED. Problem is the last two applications are in tight spaces. Anybody know of a vendor that has "short" 1142 base bulbs? The standard size is a hair too tall. These go in the anchor lights at the transom and on the...

    Snorkling in the Keys

We're planning on heading down to the Florida Keys next spring and I'm trying to do my homework early. Want to take the kids snorkling. Years ago I went but have no idea who the comapany was now. Can anyone recommend some good charter boats or areas? Open to all ideas. We'll be down by Big...

    Marine toilet maintenance

We have a port-a-pottie head, self contained. It may be as old as the boat as there are no rebuild kits for it available anymore. I removed it and cleaned it out well this winter and want to make it last. From searching the forum it looks like I need to spray some silicone on the rubber seals...

    Anchor hatch refurbish

I have the forward hatch off the 260DA. Its the plywood version with teak trim around the edges (1982). I've removed the teak (half off anyway) and painted the board. The teak was held on with somesmall staples and maybe some glue. What do you all recommend reattaching with? can I just reglue...

http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=59-3264 Anybody had experience with these? Do they help any? Like do they perform as claimed, ie more air, smoother flow etc etc which = more hp & efficiency. Just curious if they are worth the money or just for looks and the feel better...

Where did you mount your VHF and why?

The old Motorolla Nautilus is not sending and while it could be just the mic I got to thinking that IF we replaced it, would we put it back in the same place? Right now it is mounted down below (on the 260 DA) on a bulkhead but within reach of the helm (though not convenient). The 240 WE radio...

    Radio troubleshooting

I'm a mechanical kind of guy and not the best at electronics unless it can be done with a simple voltmeter... Two Questions: The stereo has two sets of speakers. When one pair quits all of the sudden, that would have to be the radio right? I mean both wires and speakers won't stop at the...
