Well I tipped the boat back as far as I could where the back of the boat was almost touching the ground and filled the Engine room as far as I thought I should without damaging anything and the water rose above the Y pipe fitting at the transom. No leaks =/ Ugh!!! Maybe that is a good thing? I...
I am talking about where the exhaust comes out. On the starboard side I have two bellows. The one on the bottom is exhaust and on the port side for some reason I have just a rubber boot and a bellow. The exhaust comes out of the open boot on the port side. I was told one is just quieter than the...
I was wondering after looking at this. Could it still be the Ypipe? If there was backpressure from the lake water that causes it to leak? I noticed the exhaust just comes out of a big rubber hole. I have water in it and need to go get something to jack it up further.
Scoflaw thank you! I was scared that it was the Y pipe. What is the ER? Your response is exactly what I need. People with more experience helping me tune in what I need to do. I have too many responses of "TIME TO PULL THE ENGINE" OR "ITS DIRTY!" haha. I will pull the engine if I have to do that...
It seemed to leak worse when the engine was running. Maybe not even leak at all when the engine was off. *edit*
After going and taking a better look at it all it seems I was wrong. It is NOT leaking while on the muffs.
I took my 89 270 Amberjack out to test on a smaller lake before taking it to Lake Michigan and I have this leak. Anyone have any experience on what direction I should go from here? Maybe the bellows?
Yeah I would like to get a new one but there is no way I can afford that right now. I have had to put everything I have into this boat just to be able to use it properly and a downrigger is not even close to a must have at this point. I already have a working downrigger and even though it is not...
Yeah I think its more of a brake than a clutch. I am thinking this downrigger does not have a "drag" type of system on it like a fishing reel does to prevent it from being ripped off the side of the boat when it gets caught on something.
Thank you Jim for the response. I looked online for a manual but did not find it I will look again. I goofed around with it and figured out that the knob in the rear actually pulls out. When it is pulled out it disengages the gears to the motor. I think the motor must have a worm gear in it and...
Long long ago my dad had a boat and we ended up with one of his old downriggers. I got an older 89 270 Amberjack and would like to use this downrigger this year since it works. I will need a base for it but other than that it seems like its in good condition. However I was messing with it and...
Ahh yeah, those would probably work, thanks! However I might just wait and see but was wondering so I thought I would ask those with more wisdom than I have haha. I cannot afford that really right now I just bought the boat last summer and there are more important things that I need. I will...
Yeah was thinking of using the same ladder just seeing if I could move it to the other side. I would not have the grab handle though. I was thinking of storing bikes on the swim platform. With the ladder near the transom door I would not have to climb over them.
Ahh yes I did not think of that! I will look into finding a TV with a power supply built into the cord that converts 120 -> 12v then just plug it into 12v.
