    Window Rebuild 1986 Sundancer 268 (268DA)

I didn't take too many pictures, but I can tell you that one really important part is you need to drill a hole in the side of the flocking (the U channel the glass slides in) at the weep hole. The new flocking is so fresh rubber that water runs right down it. On my boat there is a slight slope...

Taylor made hatch parts for 88 340EC

I never found any source. I heard they "threw away the molds". I ended up replacing the entire hatch with new complete Taylormade hatches (all 3 on a 1986 268).

    Side window track replacement

I am working on this now. I haven't installed them in the boat, but they are completely rebuilt in the basement waiting. Need to have a few days > 40 degrees to remount and seal. There will be more pictures once completed, but this post will get you started...

    1988 Hatches?

I have a 1986 268. Mine were trashed too. Missing handles, struts etc. The had been resealed with silicone all over the place. I decided to replace with new Ultra III hatches. I read somewhere that Taylor 'lost' the molds for the 1980's hatch components. The two small are 12x12. The large is...

    Window Rebuild 1986 Sundancer 268 (268DA)

Screw cover is the rubber that inlays into the outside of the windows that covers up the installation screws into the hull. I also replaced broken weep covers last year. In WaltL's post 12/27 you can see in the second picture where the screw cover has receded and exposed a screw.

    Window Rebuild 1986 Sundancer 268 (268DA)

To remove the windows from the boat: On the outside the rubber gasket (Called 'Screw Cover') is pulled out of the track. (Picture 1). This exposes the screws that attach the window to the hull. Remove those. Very gently work the window out. Depending on what the previous owner did to 'seal' you...

    Window Rebuild 1986 Sundancer 268 (268DA)

Is it a good idea to remove, clean and re-install side cabin windows?

following. Same basic window on 1986 Sundancer 268. Cracked one window this year. Planning to take them all the way out, replace the 'track'/flocking and new glass (old and crazed), recaulk back in. Mine also leak.

    Weak horn

Problem solved. Apparently the new horn needs a little higher voltage to start than the old horn. After lots of isolation testing of each segment, I determined that the total loss on the circuit was too much. So I ran new 10ga wire from the horn (connection in the head compartment) to the push...

    Weak horn

Horn is fine. If I hot-wire directly to the battery it works. And the horn is 3 weeks new.

    Weak horn

This is a weird problem that I'm wondering if anyone else has dealt with.... 1986 Sundancer 268DA. Horn was not working so I replaced it with a similar model from West Marine. It worked after install. A few weeks down the line and it sounds like a sick duck. Can barely hear it. My Blue Sea SOC...

    What is this

Bought my 1986 Sundancer 268 a couple of years ago. This was laying on top of the flip up access to the step-down pump area. It doesn't fit there and cannot figure out what it is for, if it even goes with the boat. Any ideas?

    Porta Pot

I just put this in my Sundancer 268. It's a little overkill but it's really solid. Has top 1.5" MSD Discharge. Also replaced the MSD line to the hull pump-out connector. At 30+ years old it was a little questionable. https://www.defender.com/product.jsp?id=105225 Have not even used it yet.

    3rd Battery

Not sure if this is factory or something someone added. 1986 Sundancer 268. Twin Mercruisers. There are 2 larger batteries in front of the two engines, and a third smaller battery along the port wall behind the fresh water tank. I cannot figure out how to remove this third battery for the...

    `86 Teak Rail Aluminum Standoffs

Second year with our 86 Sundancer 268. We've been pulling teak, taking it home to re-finish and re-mounting it all spring. This weekend we removed the last of it, including the bow pulpit. While removing the rear tail across the transom, once of the aluminum rings that goes between the transom...
