    Sirius Weather for Raymarine System

We have a Raymarine setup and installed the Sirius weather system a couple of weeks ago, so far I think we are going to like it – my wife thinks it is cool so there you go. Getting started by removing the access panel under the radar mount on the hard top. Then removed the speaker from the...

Running wires on 420 - hartop to helm

Will be starting a project and will need to run at least one wire (small diameter - 9/16) from the top of the hardtop to the helm on a 05 420. No problem with the access panel under the hardtop, curious about coming down the arch support and up into the helm area. Anyone have any...

Marine Weather Links - Northern Lake Michigan

A while back I set up a web page that is a compilation of useful links for Northern Lake Michigan marine weather. I have the page piggybacked off my wife’s web site (thanks honey). The links include local radar, open water forecast, near shore forecast, links to mid-lake buoys, etc. Idea...

    Leland Water Levels

I just talked to our Harbor Master in Frankfort today. He said a heads up for Leland. Apparently the channel depth is pretty darn shallow this year according to a few boats that have moved through [Frankfort]. Looks like they may not be doing any dredging this year either, I had heard COE...

    Batteries in Handheld

As those of us in the north get ready for launching our boats we address a lot of systems. Aside from all the obvious ones I like to make sure there are fresh batteries in the handheld radio and GPS that we use for backup. Also change those in any of the remotes.

    Lake Michigan Gathering

Guess we may need to narrow it a bit, was going to say Great Lakes Gathering but that coves a lot of water. I'm interested in seeing what we can put together. Yes Elk Rapids is a haul but not just for me. I'm sure there are others that will take an interest in this - hint hint Wonderful...

    Destination Sturgeon Bay

Destination Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin We lived in Wisconsin for 4 years and kept our boat in Sturgeon Bay, Door County. We made a lot of friends there and like to go back to visit. This year we left July 5th from Frankfort (our home port) for Sturgeon Bay. The crossing is one of the...

    Destination Mackinaw

Destination Mackinaw, Labor Day Weekend. After all the years boating and living in Michigan we had never been to Mackinaw on the boat. Since we were pulling out of Frankfort for the season and moving north we figured it would be a good opportunity to make the trip. We left Frankfort on...

To continue the “Points of Interest†thread started by boltman, thought I would share some of this past summer’s adventures/destinations. While our seasonal slip is in Frankfort, we have been spending the Spring and Fall in the Traverse Bay area. Destination Boyne City, Michigan...
