Need Mechanic in Naples or Marco Island Florida

Hi all, I am looking for a guy to work on my engines and the generator as well. I went to a local MarineMax but the prices seem high as opposed to an independent shop and they do not service generators.

    Official 380 Thread

Hi all, I started my engines today and water shot out of the optional flush valve on the stern. I am attaching a pic. I was wondering if this meant another more appropriate egress for the water was blocked? I am told that my cooling system expels water from the bottom of the boat. This started...

3300 Top RPM on 1998 380 Sundancer. Why?

Hi guys, update on this. Plugs and wires changed. Drove the boat 30 miles and super smooth and no vibration at around 16 knots. No problems at all for about 2 hours. Top speed is now 20 knots which is an improvement. Starboard top rpm is 4000 up from 3300 but port still stuck at 3000. Port is...

Twin 5.0 efi loss of power

Hey Jeff, I buddy of mine recommended using Sea Foam which is a gas additive. He said this might take care of my problem by cleaning the fuel injection system. I changed the plugs and wires and now starboard is better and hits 4,000 but port still stuck at 3,000...

Twin 5.0 efi loss of power

Jeff, Thanks for referring me to this topic. Is it one fuel pump that services both engines? Because my issue is on both engines and I find it weird that two fuel pumps would suddenly go bad at the same time.

3300 Top RPM on 1998 380 Sundancer. Why?

Thanks I will check it out. Yes 3300 rpm but no more full throttle. I am pretty sure its a 1999.

3300 Top RPM on 1998 380 Sundancer. Why?

When I first bought the boat, we drove it at around 17 knots with no problem for about 15 miles bringing it to its new dock. Seemed to work fine. I did not test the boat at full throttle. No survey done. (yes, i know)

3300 Top RPM on 1998 380 Sundancer. Why?

i only used the boat at low speeds like under 8 knots so I never noticed the problem. Just tested boat at high speed since I was bringing it to a marina to get bottom painted. Boat was tested right after bottom paint so bottom is smooth as baby's butt.

3300 Top RPM on 1998 380 Sundancer. Why?

Calling all gearheads! On my 1998 380 Sundancer. Owned boat for about 5 months. Engines will not drive boat faster than 19.5mph and RPM on boat engines does not go higher than 3300. This is on both engines. Bottom was just repainted and no issue with growth on props or bottom. High vibration at...

Beeping Alarm Sound Mystery! Sherlock Needed Yet Again.

sublimetime, you are correct. It is a v drive not a stern drive (newbie here) and the focus is now on the transmission sensor. Anyway, I am having a new mechanic look at the sensor next week and go through all the recommendations made above. I have been using the boat (under 10 knots) and no...

Beeping Alarm Sound Mystery! Sherlock Needed Yet Again.

By the way another mechanic told me I need to scan the engine and that it may be a "knock" alarm. I am not sure exactly what that is. If the sensor does not fix the issue and the oil being topped off does not fix the issue, I will do a scan of the engine. I am a little concerned as to why the...

Beeping Alarm Sound Mystery! Sherlock Needed Yet Again.

We still have not solved this problem. Former owner has surmised that it is a sensor on the starboard transmission, so we are going to replace that and hope for the best.

Beeping Alarm Sound Mystery! Sherlock Needed Yet Again.

mechanic took quick look and blamed on slightly low oil level. The boat in questions, by the way, is a 1999 380 Sundancer. (The 330 1997 is a different boat.) Anyway, if there is no oil LEVEL sensor, I think maybe I need a new mechanic....

Beeping Alarm Sound Mystery! Sherlock Needed Yet Again.

stern drives. mechanic said oil was under the fill line so maybe that's it. Will find out when I take it out thursday. I don't think the bilge pumps are activating since there is no water in the bilge.

Beeping Alarm Sound Mystery! Sherlock Needed Yet Again.

I guess I will pay the mechanic once again. I would prefer it, though, if I could save some bucks and figure it out without another mechanic bill or paying for a computer scan.

Beeping Alarm Sound Mystery! Sherlock Needed Yet Again.

Hi guys, I get an annoying helm alarm beeping floating up from somewhere under the instrument panel every time I go over around 10 knots. It does not stop until I slow down and then stops completely. No overheating according to gauges. Oil just topped up. No change in speed and no special...
