    Gilligan!!!!!!!

Just for fun. Who remembers this pilot episode? I lived for this show as a kid, but I think I only saw the original pilot maybe once, (and that's only because I seemed to remember some of the scenes having just watched them again). Enjoy...

    Defenders' Day Fireworks

For those interested, this weekend (Sept 12 - 14) is the annual Star-Spangled Weekend celebration, at Ft. McHenry in Baltimore, of our victory over the British and the writing of our national anthem. On Saturday evening, there is a mock ship-to-shore bombardment and fireworks. Many area...

    C-120 Engine Monitoring

Is is possible to use the engine monitoring capabilities of the Raymarine C-120 MFD with our boat? We've got a 2000 410 Dancer with CAT 3116s. We can get the latest software update for the C-120 but the version we have now is still supposed to work. I'm not sure if we'll need the NMEA 0183...

Chesapeake Bay - from the Coast Guard

The following was posted to our Power Squadron's list-serve. I'm just trying to reach more pairs of eyes. Please help if you can. ---- Dear Port partners, On or about July 24th, 2008 a NOAA Smart Buoy located at the mouth of the Patapsco River was vandalized by persons unknown using a...

    Middle River - May 10th

Just an FYI for those in the area. This Saturday, May 10th, is the Baltimore County Community Waterfront Festival in the lagoon off Dark Head Creek at the Wilson Point Park. The event did not seem to be publicized too much this year for some reason. They say you can come by boat and they'll...

    Baltimore area boaters

The Dundalk Sail and Power Squadron, local chapter of the United States Power Squadrons, has just put out its 2008 Public Course Schedule which includes the Squadron Boating Course, America's Boating Course and Hands-on GPS Course. Very often, even boaters with years of experience, (decades...

    Brief Crank during winter

Is it advisable, or not, to periodically crank the engines (3116 CATS) for only about 1 second, while they are winterized, just so parts don't sit in one place for 3 or 4 months? Thanks. David

    Original Sea Ray numbers damaged

A detailer damaged our boat name as well as the "410" on the transom. After agreeing to pay to fix them, he took off and hasn't been seen since - of course. I'm sure the boat name is of the vinyl decal type, but I'm not sure about the 410. We're having both reproduced but I'm not sure of the...

    3116TA's - How much oil?

Recently heard that CAT is recommending a reduction in the amount of oil in these engines from 24 quarts down to 20 quarts. This is supposed to reduce soot build up on transom. Anyone else heard of this? David

Now the Galley systems are out. Grrrrrr!

Got a real puzzle for ya this time. Shortly after resetting the GFI for the stbd systems, we noticed that the galley systems were out, including the coffee maker. :smt089 Tried to reset the GFI in the corner cabinet, but it's buttons wouldn't work. Thinking it was defective, I replaced...

    410 Dancer-Stbd Systems down

Can't figure this one out. Both 30 Amp lines are fully plugged in - gauges reading about 120v. All switches seem to work, but the Starboard Systems, i.e., the outlets on the stbd side, just won't work. This problem came on rather suddenly while in port and plugged in to shore power. Anyone...

    Stripped Screws

Where the aft canvas overhang, (the part directly off the radar arch), framing support connects to the side of the cockpit, just above the wetbar sink on the port side, those two screws are completely stripped. The only thing keeping the support frame in place is the pressure from the entire...

    zinc anode listings

I'm trying to replace (and stock up on) zincs for our 2000 410 Dancer. I have a list from last season of the model numbers for hull, shafts, trim tabs, etc., but I'm having trouble finding some of them online. Does anyone have a listing of current standard anodes, especially for the hull, that...

    Broken Water Pump?

Just had spring commissioning done (by mechanic). Engines are 3116 CATs. New impellers last season. Boat started fine and engines were pumping water. Slow (6 knt) cruise over to haul-out for power wash and wax, (about .5 mi). Next day, put back in and had trouble starting stbd engine -...

    48 Sundancer

Just for kicks, I looked at a 2006 48 Dancer today, while my 410 was being hauled for new zincs and a bottom wash. OMG, what a classy vessel!! Any of you seen it, (or own one)? Helm seat is actually 2 captain's chairs tied together on a base that can be rolled to the starboard side to make...

    Engine Synchronizer

Our engine synch has not been working properly all season, so we've just been synching, (not sinking), manually. As a result, we really are not sure of the proper use / procedure for even using the synchronizer as the owner's manual is not too clear on the subject. A - Can anyone offer any...

    DIY Shrinkwrapping

Any of you folks ever try doing your own shrinkwrapping? I'm not talking about the cheap blue stuff. I heard of a company - Dr. Shrink, that sells materials and equipment. Just don't know if it's worth it to get all the stuff and try doing it myself. Any learned opinions out there...
