    Engine ticking 260 Sundancer

Thanks for all the feedback. I figured a lifter slapping also. Thought the oil change and oil additive might take care of it but it didn’t. Then Figured they would diagnose and fix when they winterized. But they came back with the $10K rebuild. I think they’re trying to job me. Even a rebuild...

    Engine ticking 260 Sundancer

Thanks guys. Oil pressure is good and steady throughout range. Increases slightly at increased rpms but still around the 40 psi mark if my memory is right (boat is in winter storage now so can’t confirm). It’s a solo ticking sound not a clatter. Goes away for a few minutes if I run her up...

    Engine ticking 260 Sundancer

About 350 hours on the engine and has decent maintenance history of oil changes and tuneups.

By the way, not sure why I’m still showing as a new member having been on here for 3+ years but whatever.

    Engine ticking 260 Sundancer

Need mechanic advice. My 7.4L MPI Engine in my 1999 260 Sundancer has developed a ticking sound when idling. If I run it up to higher RPMs for for a minute or or so the ticking goes away but will come back after a few minutes idling again. The engine runs smoothly otherwise and operates fine...

    AC Converter

OK great answers everyone And thanks. I understand why I was confused. When I see AC converter on my panel I knew it also charged the batteries but my brain inserted inverter. A converter steps voltage down from 110AC to 12V DC. An inverter does the opposite, DC to AC which is what my thinking...

    AC Converter

And also why does the refrigerator work onnAC and DC and the microwave not? I can’t imagine that the refrigerator is DC.

    AC Converter

My microwave oven doesn’t work (doesn’t have power) unless I’m on shore power. The refrigerator works fine on shore power or not. Should the microwave work on battery power also through the AC converter, as I assume, the refrigerator does? By the way same with my cabin lights. There is an AC...

260 Sundancer can’t get on plane.

Thanks guys. I’m hoping it’s the fuel system and not the outdrive. I thought maybe the subtle little pop I mentioned was from running to lean. I changed the main fuel filter first thing (looks like an oil filter) and cleaned the air intake flame arrestor to, thought that would do it but no...

260 Sundancer can’t get on plane.

Been boating for 35+ yrs inland and Lk Michigan. Smaller power boats (18’-20’) inland and mainly a sailor on Lk MI until about 2yrs ago, sold the rag bag and went to the Sundancer on the big pond. The Admiral (AKA my wife) is a game boater but never got used to a boat that heels in the wind so...

260 Sundancer can’t get on plane.

After getting out of winter storage everything on my 1999 260 Sundancer (injected 7.4 MPI with Bravo drive) fired right up and seemed fine just like last year while motoring slowly in the harbor to my slip. When I got out on the big water (finally!) and tried to run it up and get on plane, it...

    Sliding Cabin Door 240 Sundancer

It's great this thread has come alive again! My 1999 24DA has a hatch problem also and I've been watching this and other threads and kbdozz YouTube video all winter trying to figure out how I can fix without tearing down the entire dashboard unit, helm and steering this spring to remove a...

    Sliding hatch is rubbing

Here you go Lazy Daze. I can't see anything out of alignment but I agree that there must be. I'm not looking forward to disassembling the helm station but I don't see an alternative.

    Sliding hatch is rubbing

Got it LazyDaze, not looking forward to disassembling the helm to replace trucks and balls. For the record here are some pictures. I see some wear but nothing that would move the bottom of the door outward so much. Doesn't look like enough clearance behind it to move it back and create the...

    Sliding hatch is rubbing

Thanks all. Yes it is a different door. It is acrylic and very heavy but it's in the shape of two steps going up to the walk through windshield when closed, so kind of zig zag in profile and slides into a matching cutout behind the helm assembly and in front of the head, almost like 2 puzzle...
