It's been several years, but last time we went to Canada (same Sarnia Bay), Canadian customs wanted us to call in on a land line when we arrived. The marina had a dedicated telephone for that at the time. They were adamant that only the captain leave the boat to call in. We gave them our...
Thanks for the great video. I was surprised to see a few pictures from my boating area...old Coast Guard station on the St. Clair River and the South Channel Yacht Club....
I shut down the power at the shore box not only to avoid disconnecting and sparking a "live" cord, but I don't want to leave a live cord on the dock. For short trips I often leave the power cord coiled on the dock and don't want to accidently drop a live cord in nor have someone accidently...
On the 2005 340, the factory standard amp is mounted behind the main electrical panel in the salon. Might be worth a look. By the way, the standard factory amp (at least on the 340) was very small in size...at first I didn't recognize it as an amp....good luck.
Bob,
Congrats on the 340! The cockpit table should have the male snaps on the underside of the table (the table slides in with the post bracket down). I've never had any problems with the table coming loose once properly secured, but it sounds like your bracket may need a little tightning up....
Paul,
I don't know if you have the "premium" sound system from the factory or not. I did not have the premium system and when I upgraded, the factory "amp" for the cockpit was located behind the main electrical panel in the salon. The installer on the new system was surprised how small the...
I had the dealer install a switch on the same ceiling panel as the lights above the aft cabin, but close to the wall (similar to the location a switch would have been if I had a tv there). I also had them re-wire the reading lights in the front berth so I didn't have to turn on the lights above...
I had two phones soaked and then dried out and both ended up working fine. I dropped my phone accidently off the boat at the marina and after recovering it, dipped it in soapy water to wash out all the sand. After a couple of days drying in the sun and recharging the battery, it worked fine...
We have the Fastback and love it. I did not want any permanent camper hardware on the back gunnels and we only use it while at the dock at night (or running in inclement weather). We do not use it for additional shade at the dock or while running (we live in Michigan and want all the sun we...
The loans give the auto companies what they need most....time. Time to make the cuts in programs, staffing, etc. and most importantly time for the credit industry to stabilize so sales can begin to recover. Not many businesses experience a 35% drop-off in sales in one month like the auto...
So the consensus is that this is a problem of their own creation, whether by mismanagement or the fault of the UAW (or some combination of both) and the government shouldn't be in the loan business no matter what the impact on the economy? The credit limitations and the bottom falling out the...
I am generally opposed to bailouts, but I am not opposed to providing low cost loans to at least two of the automakers. I am not in an auto related industry, but am very much aware of the scope of this industry, particularly in the Midwest. While the industry has been very sloppy in how they...
I keep my boat in heated indoor storage. I have always taken the batteries out and kept them charged at home. To access the engine hatch, I take along a "spare" battery and use the cigarette lighter attachment to power the hatch.
Last year, a neighboring boat owner said he hooks up his...
John,
How do you access the space under the mid-cabin "sofa"? I've only pulled out the top enough to convert the space to a bed. I haven't noticed access from the top (under the sliding panel), but maybe I missed it.
Randy,
I'll just share my experiences and observations....most of these have websites where you can check them out yourself:
In Anchor Bay (Northwest part of Lake St. Clair), there is Metro Beach (no pool, but lots of other activities and inexpensive, but the shower/restroom facilities are...
