My boat is a little older but had a similar problem, replaced gimble bearing, seals and all bellows, water still kept coming in, it was the steering shaft seal, my mechanic said major job to replace and complete gimble housing would have to be removed, he came up with a quick fix which worked...
I recently installed a double din DVD\TV\Stereo system, has remote control and you can attach two additional screens and an amp, can also attach a camera on the bow or in engine compartment
Works fantastic

Spoke to a friend last weekend who has just fitted one DIY style, the hardest part is getting the cutout correct, it’s a ellipse curve and you can’t use a hole saw and there is no special tool available.
His solution was:
1) drill a small pilot hole straight through the bow (5 or 6 mil)
2)...
Dont know where your impellers are mounted but they are ususally attached to the engine well above the water line, you can replaice them with the seacock open and the water will not rush in, then sort your seacock next time the boat is out
hi guys, I have a 3500 but it looses the SHAL, DEEP and Alarm buzzer settings when it is switched off, have to reprogram it every time i start the engine, is this normal?, does it not have any internal battery or ROM

Did the job yesterday and all went fine, stuck an old sheet under the drive to catch any falling parts and tied the spanner to the hand rail, saved a few bucks and learned a lot, thanks for all your tips,, David

Hi Todd,

I also have a single diesel engine, would you happen to have the part number or photo of the u joint bellows, found lots of spares under seat and might already have one courtesy of previous owner, is it really necessary to replace the gimbal bearing?
My boat is same model 1993, I bought & launched in Aug 08, bellows were replaced last year but I have that same steady drip problem & it appears to come in around the drive shaft, your refit sounds like a mammoth job and not for faint hearted, if I fitted a new rubber sleeve and sealed it...
