Update I used muffs to block the inlet holes on drives with garden hose above waterline. Drained motors pulled pumps with min. Water leaking.
Used wood plugs to plug the inlet just in case!
Worked great and stress free!
I have to do this in the water also. My plan is to put muffs on the drive with a garden hose above the water line pull the raw water hose off and plug it with a tapered wood dowel. This should minimize or stop the incoming water. Better then pulling her out of the water!
How many hrs? It should be easy for them to show the records then. Manifolds and risers every changed? Mine is 2005 with 289hrs. And was running on hot side. This is were the surveyor comes in play. Engine surveyor can plug into and see the rpm the motors ran and hrs. At that rpm.

Plus ask for Previous service records, do a search on hull number for any accidents etc. If bravo 3 check the normal out drive stuff bellows, bearings , shift cables, Corroision etc. hire a surveyor that also performs engine diagnostics and compression test.

With a mechanical gauge still fluctuate?
Sounds like pressure spring in oil pump or relief valve. Try taking the distributor out and get a drill with a oil pump rod and turn it in reverse direction and then forward to see if that loosens and thing that might be stuck. I would try that first...

I had new manifolds and risers put on and they have about 35 hrs on them. My plan is to flush motors out with barnacle buster and then put a full closed coolant systems or just add a automatic superflush system AC-2 is it worth doing any one of these

Ok a lot of input on safety but people who die of co on a boat with a portable gen. Sounds to me they didn't have co detectors or worse they disconnect it
This is not the gen. Fault it's the owners .common sense goes along way. The co detector on the boat is wicked sensitive just backing up...

if I made an exhaust pipe to extend into the water would that delete the co's. i wonder if the gen. would be able to even start/run with the pipe in the water
