Piloting twin engine on one engine

Any advice appreciated! My starboard engine has been diagnosed with a “stacked crank bearing.” My marina can not take my boat (SeaRay 340 SDA, 1988) out of the water due to their lift limitations. My only option seems to be piloting her to Iuka, MS. The trip is approximately 80 miles through...

    Westerbeke problem

The Westerbeke generator on my ‘88 340 Sundancer has recently started shutting down after 2-3 hours of its initial run. If I let it sit for an hour, it will run for an hour then shutdown again. I’ve run out of ideas, any advice appreciated.

    Westerbeke 4.5KW BCGTC Series

My Westerbeke 4.5 generator has only 650 hours or so on it. Most of which has been put on during the 3 years I've owned the boat. General maintenance has always been done by the marina mechanic while I've owned the boat. This year they are booked out until November, so it's either wait or figure...

    Fuse Panel

Anyone with a 1988 340 Sundancer have a schematic showing the labels for the fuse panel and the amperage of each fuse? SeaRay says it's in the owners manual but alas it is not. I'm not convinced the PO replaced the fuses correctly. Thanks in advance.

    Help!

I’m sitting at anchor on the Tennessee River. When I started my port engine the ignition on/off switch started smoking. I removed the 10 amp breaker and it was very hot. I don’t have a spare on board so I swapped the blower breaker. It started smoking immediately upon starting the engine. Any...

    Port Gauges not working

Mechanic recently installed new starboard engine, on the way to his marina he said my port gauges started jumping, then quit working. Apparently he didn't bother to troubleshoot as I had told him I was ordering replacement gauges. Before installing the new gauges I started looking for the...

    Instrument gauges

Looking for a good source for new instrument gauges for my 1988 340 Sundancer. The easier the install the better. Any advice is much appreciated.

    Tool kit recommendations

Over the years I’ve collected tools that I’ve moved from the garage to the car to the boat wherever they are needed. I want to put together a tool box that will be dedicated to the boat. Before I go out and spend my kids inheritance what recommendations do y’all have. The one thing you never...

    Recommendations ?

Having the boat pulled out for a new engine install next week. While she's out of the water I want to switch to AGM batteries, so I'll need a new charger, inverter and a battery monitor system. Any recommendations appreciated.

    Brown oily sludge

Getting ready for Independence Day with the grandkids on the River. I went to the boat this morning to check the usual things, only to find a brown oily sludge on top of the starboard engine. I’m a great doctor but a mediocre at best boat mechanic. Any idea what this is? What it indicates? Is...

    Replacing Starter

    Improving air flow

The “1st Mate” has requested I find a way to improve airflow when we are cruising on the Tennessee River. Most of the time I only run at 10 knots or so. She’s convinced I can remove the center panel of the windshield and that will solve her problem. I’m convinced that even if I could do that it...

    1988 340 Sundancer Plumbing ?

Hi and thanks for adding me to the Club. I'm new to Sea Ray's and recently bought a '88 340 Sundancer. While defrosting the fridge and icemaker I noticed condensation and a leak under the galley faucet (I put the ice in the sink to melt). This photo is what greeted me under the sink. Is this...
