We have an 85 260da w/out A/C. I have thought about adding as well. I also have a Honda EU 2000 and it even powers my window unit a/c in my 8x10 office down the boat yard.

I have a customer with this model only a couple years newer. Most likely that screw is going into a threaded insert that sits in the plastic.

Good suggestion above. Also make sure you through bolt the swim platform brackets to the hull. This Summer, I was stepping onto the platform from inside the boat on a customers 85 25' DA and the self tapping bolts pulled out and dropped me and the platform to the ground.

Go to Arco.com. They are an aftermarket suppier of marine electrical parts. Technical support is good as well. Make sure you get a gear reduction starter. Half the size and weight of a full size GM starter. New mounting bolts are a good idea as well. Matt

As mentioned, that is how you fill it. I have done hundreds of lowr units. I don't measure anything. Fill from the drain/lower til it comes out the vent/top. Make sure you use New gasgets on fill/vent screws. Do you have the drive reservoir on the motor or one mounted in the boat?

Which water-based are you using? AquaGuard, Hydrocoat{ Pure Oceans by West Marine=private label} Interlux? Do you use less paint per gallon with the water based?

Replace it. Not worth repairing. As mentioned. Ray radios are mediocre. Look on any party, charter,commercial boat. Most are Icom/Standard. I have one of each in my pilothouse. We sell all electronics at the lowest prices. Capt.Matt
